We have streaming netflix, nothing else. It works well for us, since really the only TV we watch is WoF, Jeopardy, and Burn Notice (which is now on netflix, huzzah!).
I'd rather be able to watch what I want when I want, than to pay for commercials and edits and have to pay more on top for foreign/specialty/etc.
In our house, if you can put netflix on it, we've got netflix on it. Phones, tablets, laptops, gaming systems... if we go somewhere where there's WiFi, we've got netflix.
We got the cord. I admit it was horrible for me at first because I love to channel surf.
The future hubs parent have dish network. There is this miracle product called a sling adaptor. With it we can be linked to their network. I swear it's all legal! We also have netflix, boxee box and a very large collection on our apple tv.
We cancelled our cable after getting Apple Tv and NetFlix. :) We love them both and saves us a great deal of money.. Just make sure you have a great internet plan. If we didn't have unlimited net, there is no way we would have cancelled our cable.
We cut the cord and don't regret a day of it! We were wasting so much money on service we never used. When I did worry about some of my favorite cable only shows that I would miss, I just did the math. I could buy and outright own the digital versions of an entire season of those shows for about the cost of 1/3 of our monthly cable bill. That was insane!
We actually have both Netflix and Amazon Prime. Functionally speaking, we pretty much only use Netflix for streaming. Prime was purchased for the shipping perks, but we have dabbled in their streaming.
Netflix, but we also have huluPlus, which is TOTALLY worth it :) we also have amazon prime streaming, but that was mostly just a bonus cause what wer were really after was the free 2-day shipping everyday. we order a lot of stuff :)
We only have Netlfix and Hulu and occasionally we will purchase a movie or TV show on Amazon. We've been doing it this way for almost a year now and it works for us. Saves us a lot of money and we are still able to watch a large variety of content. We will never go back to having cable or satellite again.
silly question, but have you tried your local library? we do have a great library here in Cleveland but we can get almost every movie or tv show, from mad men to bruno to bridesmaids. And its all free!

It honestly depends on what you want it for.
We have netflix and I love it. I love it because I hate commericials and I love to watch episode after episode. Also, I dont like feling like I have to be home at a certain time to watch a show. Netlix is also much cheaper
With that said, I have never had cable...so I dont know
EXCEPT, a few weeks ago DH found out that we could increase our internet speed for an extra $2 a month. This includes cable! So we technically have cable but have not hocked it up! LOL That tells you how excited about it I am...
We have only Netflix. I love that I can use Netflix on my Iphone, Ipad, and laptop. My brother and sisters use it on their phones too. We can all share one account. I don't really miss cable at all or the crazy bills. Most of the newer shows I like I can watch online.
We canceled our cable (Comcast) last week and now just have basic tv and internet and I don't regret it at all. I am especially looking forward a bill that is $100 less per month. We tried the Roku but the wireless connection was less than spectacular so we are returning that tomorrow.
Our fabulous solution, watch Netflix and Hulu Plus through the XBox! And here I thought it was worthless. ;)
I read each of your responses to my FI. Im leaning more toward Netflicks and Hulu. Though it might be weird for my FI because at the moment he has satellite. So not worth the money I think.
We do only Netflix as well, and I'm generally happy with it. There are two drawbacks:
1) I love E and none of those shows are ever on Netflix
2) It seems like lately Netflix has been cutting back on a lot of its TV shows.
Despite these two setbacks, the money we save is worth it. After the wedding is over with though, I might go back to cable.

Bees,
I am trying to come up with the best and cheapest option to getting shows and movies. From what I have researched, Netflix is the best choice. But I wanted to get the opinions of the hive.
What's your take on this??
