I’ve known people with the name. Gilmore girls had the name. It’s not hard to pronounce.

What is so hard to pronounce? I like the name and I have no problem with it… but that’s because I have heard it said many times over in my life… Many Rory in school.

I feel like Rory is a fairly-common name especially with Rory McIlroy being so popular/famous in the golf world right now.  I don’t have trouble pronoucing it at all.

it’s nice, I know a few Rorys of various ages, it’s well known enough in the UK. How ever, I sometimes find myself saying Ror-wy, but that’s just my mouth lol. If you love it, go for it!

For a girl or a boy?

I don’t think it’s at all hard to pronounce… unlike the Gaelic spelling (Ruaridh, pronounced Roo-uh-ree).

OH NO I VOTED FOR THE WRONG THING. I clicked the first one but misunderstood the question. I meant that I DON’T think it’s hard to pronounce and I love it!

Seeing as it’s both a Scottish (well, Celtic) name, and the name of my cousin, I have absolutely no problem with its pronunciation. I can kinda see how it would be an issue for someone with difficulty pronouncing ‘R’s, but if you love it then what does it matter?

I actually do have a hard time pronouncing it (American, not Asian, English is my first language). I think it’s just me, but I have a hard time saying all the Rs. I think it’s a great name though, I just couldn’t name my own child that since I can’t say it.

I love it!  Rory is actually the name DH and I have picked out if we ever have a son.  I’m also from an Asian background, though, so I can totally hear in my head how it would sound coming from a person whose first language is not English.

I don’t think it’s hard to pronounce at all.

I think the only thing that matters is that you and your parents can pronounce it.

This reminds me of Modern Family when Mitchell and Cameron first adopt Lily from Vietnam and Jay says “Lily, isn’t that going to be hard for her to pronounce?”

My understanding (from my fiance’s Asian parents) is that L’s turn into R’s with the accent. They dot have any issues with R, just L. I think it would be fine?

I’m also curious, is this for a girl or a boy?

I actually really love the name, and if I ever have a daughter, I am 99% set on the name Lorelei, which has the nickname of Rory.  Can anyone tell I was a Gilmore Girls fan? 🙂
