I don't think it looks cheap if you do it the right way! I know there's a gorgeous example in the gallery under "Candy Buffet".
I think it's a great idea and it doesn't look cheap. Use great quality popcorn like Garrett's: http://www.garrettpopcorn.com/. Even though they only have a few flavors, it is THE best popcorn and your guests would love it!
I think it is a great idea! I am sure most guests would absolutely love it. especially since a lot of favors end up still on the table at the end of the night - this you are guaranteed people will enjoy!
I love that idea! You could do some totally cool things with a popcorn buffet. As long as you don't use cheap looking paper bags or something, than I don't think it will look cheap at all. Very unique, I think that all your guests will be amazed with it, since it's not the "norm"... I would be.
Yum! Go with quality. I like me some white cheddar popcorn! You could give out little customized cans/bottles of soda too
I think it's an awesome idea... 5 or so different flavors, cool containers with scoops and pretty packaging... yum I can just see it now. Yummy late night snack.
Chocolate caramel covered popcorn!!!
It would probably be a first and I'm all for unique ideas added to the wedding to make it "yours" ... so if it fits you and your groom ... do it!
I would love a variety of flavored popcorn at a wedding! I think popcorn is really nice looking, actually. Go for it!
I think a popcorn buffet would be super cute! Especially if you have cute containers to put it in and cool drinks to go with it. Popcorn makes me so thirsty lol.
I think that sounds awesome! I agree that the presentation will make a big different in this. Popcorn in garbage bags? cheap. Popcorn in cute containers with nice bags/containers to take home? awesome!!
Haha, I JUST posted the other day about gourmet popcorn -- and I KNOW it ain't cheap, so I'm sure it wouldn't LOOK cheap! Check out my post if you're interested in some other companies!
I think it's awesome!!! I love popcorn and we're hoping to have a popcorn machine available during dancing... So i think it's way cute, and definitely NOT CHEAP!!
I think it sounds great. I would like mine with caramel and cashews, please! ;-)
drooling... i love me some popcorn... who can say no to that? btw - costco sells some and it's called pirate's booty... it's so good!
i was also contemplating a popcorn buffet too and had the same concern!! i think all posts above are totally right on, quality popcorn and cute packaging is what its all about! i think its a nice late night snack and offers variety of salty and sweet! YUMMO.
That's a neat idea! Kinda a little snack while you party! I like kettle corn...yummm!!
www.krema.com is the website for The Krema Nut Co. They have caramel corn and other stuff and they ship anywhere. I ordered from them 2 years ago to make "swag bags" for 100 people at a conference. The popcorn was their favorite item in the bag. Thy have a peanut butter and chocolate coated caramel corn called Buckeye Crunch that is yummy.
This place also has some awesome flavored gourmet popcorn. I'm thinking about getting the buffalo blue cheese for myself!
I think it's a wonderful idea, and not it will look thoughtful - not cheap at all! You could also buy it in bulk if you wanted from costco or something (I know they have a variety of flavors).

I think it's a really unique idea and would not look cheap at all - you could even have some printed bags with the wedding date or your monogram on it. I'll see if I can find something.
i think it's a great idea!!! what about display it like this?:
I believe there was a recent post on weddingbeePro of a wedding that had an AWESOME popcorn buffet. They had candy popcorn that was in different colors like blue, so cool!
If you find its too expensive this way, you could always rent an old fashioned popcorn machine & have it made on site!! Nothing beats hot buttery popcorn Mmm... people always go bananas for it! Geez now I want some!
I love popcorn! There's so much you can do with it! Spicy, sweet, salty, seaweed! Good luck!
Love the idea! I saw the picture that a PP posted of popcorn in a champagne glass, and it looks way too cute. :)
Yum - I would love a popcorn buffet - I don't think it would look cheap at all!
oooo - I would totally load up on some carmel popcorn!! YUM!!! As a guest I'd be a fan!
Mexicangirl-- i was about to post the same picture! Love it! You can definitely make a popcorn bar look fancy schmancy
sounds really yummy...this might be pricey, but i saw GARY POPPINS popcorn in a magazine...http://www.garypoppins.com/
Not at all!! You can definitely spruce them up. Some options to consider, to make it look more classy:
* Use different-sized, upside-down bell jars to put the popcorn in
* Make sure to put some unique popcorn varieties in the mix (examples)
* Be sure to use cute containers, like chinese to-go boxes or cellophane bags. Feature your monogram to personalize them.
OMG, my fiance would love a popcorn buffet! I would think it's a special treat--I wouldn't think "cheap" at all.
We went to this one place in Michigan called Popcorn Wagon, and they had a million flavors. They ship anywhere, so I got him four small bags for his birthday a while ago. :) Our favorite popcorn flavors were Cookies and Cream, Blue Raspberry, Ranch, and Orange. Random, but delicious!

I was thinking about popcorn just b/c we have a lot of food and also a dessert table so candy might be a little too much sweet. Anyone planning on getting popcorn buffet instead of candy? I know Dale and Thomas popcorns are really good, but not sure if anywhere else sells popcorn. What do you think of that idea?
