hi guys, i totally fell in love with this dress when i tried it on. it was amazing and the yellow really popped up. i'm just scared now as not sure if it's too "evening gowny" and not really a wedding dress. i know that gwen stefani got married in an ombre pink dress but not sure if this would do... it's a bridal dress though. what do you think? or should i go for something more conventional?
It sort of looks like (forgive the crudeness) urine or nicotine stains around the bottom...
I love this and think it looks "wedding". If you are too unsure about the yellow, can you order it in solid white or ivory? Yes, it is a little more avant-garde, but if that is your personality then go for it!
It's all about your personal style and what kind of wedding you're having. Personally, it's not my style, but it has to be what makes YOU feel best!
Just one small word of caution....when you look at your pictures 10 years down the road, will you be happy with your decision? Just food for thought.
Go with your heart! It's your day and you can wear whatever you want!
I think that it is a great dress for something slightly different but not crazy. I think that if it matches your personality this dress would be awesome.
I think that the bride has to own a look like this. If you are at all hesitant, the dress will wear you and you will ultimately regret your decision. I think this is a look you either love or don't. If you're unsure, it probably means you're better off admiring it and choosing something else. I'm a two (3? 4? whatever) dress bride, and your mileage may vary.
I wouldn't get it myself, but I definitely think it looks bridal enough.
as long as you feel fabulous in it then go for it. these days the term "bridal enough" means different things to different people
I'm not the biggest fan of it myself but it's bridal and not an evening gown. If you love if, go for it!
I think it's really pretty and bridal, although to be honest, at least in the pictures, the yellow looks a little dirty. I think any other color would look better, but that you can also make the yellow look more yellow by accessorizing with yellow...that might get rid of the issue statutory grape brought up
I like it a lot but with out the color change. If it was all white i would be sold. It looks like it is an age stain or something.
P.S. I've noticed you've been trying/buying/considering a lot of dresses.
My bet is that the moment you find THE dress, you won't have to ask us!! :)
I love the cut of the dress and it is very wedding-y but like some of the other posters I am not a fan of the yellow but I think it would look great in almost any other colour. Also maybe the yellow looks better in person?
If you can pull it off, more power to you. I agree with Amaryllis, that you have to OWN this dress to pull it off. If you love it, maybe contact the designer about making the gown in head to toe ivory so you can have the shape and style without the yellow?
hi guys, yes definitely the yellow looks more yellow, and although i tried on a few other dresses... this one made me feel stunning and completely unique. i guess i'm just worried guests and moreover, my conventional mother, will be like "what were you thinking!?" i have a beautiful typical bridal dress lace, and could wear that for the ceremony held on a different day, or for the reception as a second dress. i just feel the yellow ombre is more edgy and kind of more me.... but i am worried about what people will think. the dress can be bought in all white/ivory... and the cut is truly stunning. what do you think?
I want to vote that I LOVE it. Just promise that you will tame the hair down a bit ... the girl there looks a bit like an alien.
I dig it. My favorite color is yellow, though. I think it would be rad with a bouquet of blue or purple hydrangeas, or an all-white bouquet.
I actually like this dress... but I REALLY like the beautiful Vera you already own. I dont think this holds a candle to it.
I love it. If you love it and it's your style then wear it. Who cares what people think? Unless Tim Gunn will be in attendance at your wedding, none of your guests' style opinions really matter.
LOVE IT! Love it so much that I want to know the designer! Please tell me who makes it :)
This dress is gorgeous! I actually like the color variation.
love it! if it fits your personality go with it! weddings can be over the top...!
I think if the entire dress was in white/ivory, it would still be just unusual and edgy enough to make you really stand out, but at the same time still be so bridal that nobody would be fainting from the shock. That would be a good compromise if you wanted to wear it for your ceremony.
If you just plan to wear it for the reception, then you would definitely get away with the yellow! Lots of brides change to a coloured outfit for the reception, so this isn't much different.
If you do decide to buy this dress, I would really strongly suggest that you stop looking at dresses and cancel any further dress appointments. I've noticed you have tried on quite a few dresses already and it's likely that trying on any more will just sway you in a different direction... I am quite worried for your bank balance!
If you honestly can't resist trying on more dresses, don't buy this one yet--just keep it in your memory banks so that you can mentally compare it with any new dresses you've tried on. Once you've finished all your appointments, you can decide which one dress you want most of all, out of the ones you've tried.
I personally wouldn't because to me the color at the bottom looks dirty... if it faded to a blue or a pink I would jump all over it! However that is just me, I think you need to go for what YOU love, and if you love it I am sure you will rock it.
i am slightly obsessed with wedding dresses that are a little out of the ordinary and unique. this is really fantastic!
hi guys! well for the ceremony i was going to wear this all laced dress in white. but the ceremony will be at my home and a little more casual. i am worried that people will be like... that's not a wedding dress! but then again, it really is... but that's nyc for you... cutting edge fashion that might get you laughed at. i dont know i'm so torn! the dress really is stunning though. it's like a classic dress wiith a little edge.
Ah I love it!! I'm having a yellow wedding and although I don't think I could pull off that dress, I wish I could because it's gorgeous! It's still really bridal but just a bit more fun and unique and I don't think it looks dirty at all! I love the yellow :)
Well, as you said, you are a New Yorker and from someone who lives here, I know that this would fit in with all the edgy ladies I see on the subway. Personally, I'm not a big fan of those dresses that have another color at the bottom. I didn't really like Gwen Stephani's dress personally. But then, I'm more of a JCrew/Ann Taylor dresser... conventional.
@Statutory Grape: That's what I thought when I saw it too! I'm really not trying to be rude, but it made me think, "Did someone spill coffee on her dress?"
I think it could be very nice if done in a different colour though.
Pretttty! If you love it, it'll show when you're wearing it! It looks like a wedding gown and unique enough to be different. I even love the yellow at the bottom!
I love it. I might try to bring in the yellow with accessories. Maybe bright yellow flowers in your hair?
