Michaels coupons right now are my best friend. I'm there so often these days that I think I will be on a first name basis with the cashiers there soon!
Restaurant.com is a GREAT place to get inexpensive gift certificates for dining out in your area!!
In Canada the coupons are kind of lame... nothing like in the US! I can't wait for the day I can become a coupon clipper! lol it's a sport! Everytime I visit my FI I "practice" my coupon clipping skills & even started doubling coupons my last trip. Woo!
My FI walks away from the check-out & I squeal in delight, while the cashier looks at me like I'm certifiable. You have to understand... to be able to get cheese for $2 is incredible to me when the same block of cheese in my hometown is 4 times as much.
I don't get the newspaper so I don't use coupons for most things. Just the Micheal's and Bed Bath and Beyond.
I've been trying to get better about clipping coupons. I usually try to check the Target flyer to make sure I'm buying stuff on sale. Also, our local grocery store does online coupons, so I try to check that email before we go shopping.
Love coupons! My FI and I go to the market across the street every Sunday and get the paper and have coffee and clip together, its becoming a Sunday morning ritual. My favorite are Bed, Bath and Beyond... I've heard if you are registered there you can use expired coupons, and as many as your have, when you go to finish off your registry!
Coupons rock! I don't get the paper, but I will use them when I get ahold of them :)
We use Bed Bath ones, and they send them about every month or so. Also, whenever I shop online I always google [insert store name here] promo code to see if there's any deals for free shipping, % off, etc. It works!!
@Queen: I do that too! A great site for coupon codes is retailmenot.com
I'm getting pretty good about using online coupons (so far as I'll refrain from purchasing something if there is no coupon code offered!) but I don't coupon clip for groceries---although I want to start, for sure. I am SO impressed by some people's ability to coupon shop!
Neither of us were clippers until we got married. It's kind of cute. We subscribe for Sunday delivery of the paper and have a little routine: after church we head to Starbucks for breakfast and coupon scouring. It's kind of like a game... we get so excited when the grocery receipt lists $20 savings or more. What really scores is when we have a coupon for one of the buy-one-get-one specials at Publix. :o)
I use online coupons as much as possible, and Michael's coupons, but other than that, no. There's only one thing I hate more than being behind someone with a ton of coupons- being behind people who still write checks. Drives me NUTS!
I always always use coupons. Every Sunday, the FI gets the newspaper, and I go through it and clip coupons. I keep them in an accordion fold organizer thing that fits in my handbag, so it makes for quick reference when I'm at the store. I pull the coupons as I grab items off the shelf and keep them in a pile so that I'm not that annoying person in line taking forever. Honestly, it does add up...I typically save $10 or more on each trip. I usually save much more when we combine the coupons with the weekly offers going on at the various stores. We have Kroger here, and with some of their 10/$10 deals, half of the time I end up spending a total of around $40, and save $35 in the process...it does add up!
I never buy anything online unless I've sourced out coupons -- and I collect anything that comes in the mail for normal shops. I used to be a better coupon clipper for the grocery store when I was near stores that doubled coupons, but now I sort of slack in that area.
Before I buy anything online, I check out evreward.com, retailmenot.com and ebay.com (if I can buy a coupon).
I wish I was more of a coupon user. I use the ones sent to me from retail stores, which defeats the overall purpose because it makes me go shopping when normally I wouldn't, I'm a sucker. But I don't use them for food, which I always intend to, it just never happens.
Another thing I use often is a website with an email service that sends you a daily discount offer. It's called groupon.com. I love it, they send discounts for restaurants, wine tastings, tubing, performances, spa services, etc. But, the negative is that the deal is only valid if a certain number of people buy it. I sound like an employee of theirs! Haha, I swear I'm not, I'm just all about a deal.
Coupon clipper here! I clip for the grocery store and for restaurants. I want to get a lot better at it too.
@Hunnybear-me TOO! lol.
Yes. We use them as often as we can! We gotta save money for our move and the wedding!
I use coupons sometimes, but I find that getting emails from your favorite stores really helps the savings add up faster--because I only buy clothes when I get a clearance email, for example. I have a folder that I "favorite" all the things I want into, then I wait two weeks to a month and go back and see if anything's still on sale in my size and if I have an email promo code for it... if so, then heck yes! It's soooo on. :)
I'm known as the "Coupon Queen". My 'rents save me coupons from their Sunday paper (after my mom cuts a few out for herself) and I also have the Entertainment Coupon book for resturants and activities. Cutting coupons can save me anywhere from $10-30 each time we grocery shop. Soooo worth it!
I use them and we actually have a coupon exchange at work - everyone keeps what they need and then adds the rest to a communal box in the break room. For instance, I have no need for diaper or formula coupons but I'm always hunting for coupons on soup and "quick meals". So I donate the diaper and formula coupons to the box and help myself to the soup ones that other people don't need. It's a great way to save some money!
I love coupons, I live too far out to get a paper but whenever I have coupons I use them.
absolutely I do!! and before i purchase anything online i google coupons to make sure i'm not missing out on anything :D
They're never for the stuff I actually buy....so I glance through the coupon books, but I just don't buy things like Kool-Aid and fruit snacks and the other processed foods they're usually for.
I try my best to use coupons but my problem is half the time I forget them at home. But I also print coupons off of the internet. Also, if you're shopping online, you can always google the store you're shopping at for coupon codes. Sometimes you can get free shipping or 5%-10% off. While it's not a lot at least it's something.
I do use coupons a lot...I usually use the ones that come in the paper or are emailed to me...Sometimes I do forget the coupons for really good deals...or when I really need them...
haha totally, Albertsons coupons and I are best friends :)
also Bed Bath and Beyond, love getting those in the mail!
what ejs said: "They're never for the stuff I actually buy....so I glance through the coupon books, but I just don't buy things like Kool-Aid and fruit snacks and the other processed foods they're usually for."
sometimes there are coupons for stuff i actually eat, and i use those if i actually looked through the coupons recently. maybe i should be more diligent about searching through the coupons for ones i could use, as a student i certainly could use the extra $!
but for online shopping: YES, i ALWAYS have a coupon code handy. also, i do luckymagrewards.com, which gives you cash back on your purchase at a surprisingly large number of sites! it's an awesome deal. i get cash back from them and cash back on my credit card...so awesome.

Are you a coupon clipper? I am, but not as much as I used to be.
Mostly now I use them at restaurants, but when I do I save a lot (or, more accurately, spend the same amount and dine out 2x as often).
How about you?
