So what do you dream your man in? Bow tie? Regular tie? No tie? I have a thing for ties..guess that's pretty cliche, lol. But I do! And it's a bow tie for me all the way! Those are like oohh so nice! What about you? Or does it matter?

Regular ties. I actually hate bow ties. They make me think of Donald Duck.

My FI will be wearing a bow tie (his choice). I thought he would want a regular tie, but he's going the bow tie route because that's what Doctor Who (British sci fi character) wears. I always pictured the regular one, but it wasn't a big deal at all to me :).

Our guys aren't wearing tuxes or suits but they will be wearing a tie with their wedding day ensemble. I kind of can't stand bow ties!

Definitely tie! Matching the sash on my dress- like a deep dusty Greyish pink...the most beautiful colour!

I let him choose and he said he just didn't want to wear a bow tie at all.  I used to like the look of bow ties but now I prefer regular ties.

Think we may brave it and go no ties or ties only for church.

Neither DH or I wanted bow ties.  I'm glad he was against it because I'm not a fan at all.

I would love for him to wear a bow tie, but he wants to wear a regular tie because he thinks it looks better on him. I'm debating putting the groomsmen in bow ties, and him in regular tie. Or either just the little boys in bow ties. :) can't decide!

We had our guys just wear regular ties.  Bow ties are nice, but a little too formal for our wedding.

We're going with regular straight ties. I know most people think bow ties are classic, but I just think they're cheesy!

I think a bow tie would be too formal for my liking so we're going with a regular tie.

i am going for ties because our wedding is on the beach and i wanted some formality but not too much...but if i was having a traditional wedding, i wouldnt mind either. it would be up to FI.

We're going with a classic white bow tie for our formal wedding. I like that it'll be special, not just an ordinary suit/tie work look.

My FH is wearing an updated version of the old Rat Pack tuxedos from Calvin Klein cumberbund and all.  He looks so smoking in it, I can't wait to see him in it again.

White bow tie=smokin. I am debating..black, white or a gold one to match the gold vest thing he might be wearin under there. Build a tux on Men's Warehouse site...also smokin:).

White bow tie for our formal wedding. FI is a formal bloke. It has to be hand-tied too. The mere thought of a clip-on brings him out in a cold sweat.

DH and I both prefer the look of regular ties over bow ties so that is what he and the GM wore.

@kalliela: build a tux? brb - going to lurk.

i'm not really surprised at all the anti-bowtie sentiments. I don't know anyone who wears them anymore! ...except FH? I thought he'd want to wear his dress blues but then he surprised me and said he wants to wear a tux with a bowtie! i told him he could wear a suit and/or a regular tie but he insists he wants to be dressed to the nines. why not though, i guess - i'm wearing an out of character big white dress, the big guy can certainly wear a bowtie if he wants too! personally, i think both look nice so i don't really care... he's not letting me pick a fun one though, so it looks like it'll be either a plain white or black. :P

Bow ties for my guys- My FH and all his friends started wearing goofy patterned bow ties to eachothers' weddings (when they weren't in the wedding party) as a joke, and now its a tradition. So, I'm going to sew bow ties out of different vintage patterned/floral fabrics for them to wear with tan suits as our groomsmen. I'm really excited about it and my FH is too!

FH actually wears a bowtie almost every day to work so he will also be wearing one for the wedding.

    This one in pink :)

every time I see someone with a bowtie (Richard Gilmore on Gilmore Girls comes to mind) I just want to go over there and twist it to make it spin.

Even though I know they don't do that. Still. It's what I picture in my head.

So for us it's def the normal tie route.

Personally I only "like" the look of a bow tie with a tux. Other than that I really dislike them, they do not look formal at all to me -- a cravat, now that is formal, bow ties just make me think of little boys.. awkward professors.. or Erkel.

We are going with ties, because that is what my partner wants.

We went for the guys' tux fittings the other day.  While I voted for a regular tie when this poll first came up, FI tried on a tux with a bowtie and we all agreed that it looked good on him, so that's what he'll wear!  His will be in white though since we thought a black bowtie would look too much like a restaurant server, lol.  The groomsmen will be in regular ties though.
