I used to think buying designer handbags was a waste of money but then for xmas one year I fell in love with a coach purse and ever since then it's just been designer handbags for me! I have 7 Coach bags, only 3 of them are from a retail store, the other ones are from the outlet! Now I got my first MK bag and love it! Hopefully this will be my only MK bag! I also love Louis Vuitton bags but just can't justify the price even though with my 7 Coach bags and 1 MK bag I could probably afford 1 or 2 LV's by now!
I haven't actually bought a purse since college, but I love getting designer purses from my mom and my sister. My mom always gets classic Coach purses that she passes on to me, and my sister tends to get funkier, younger designers. I don't actually love them enough that I would pay for them, but it's great to have the free versions! ;)
I carry whatever I see that I like. And I always get compliments on my purses. I don't own any designer bags, but a few of my friends do. One friend loaned me a gorgeous Michael Kors bag because it was my favorite color, but it felt absolutely awful to carry. I've never carried a Coach bag, but another friend has a ton of them. Maybe I should borrow one to test out.
@jo.lee: That is nice you get designer bags from your mom and sister! Most of my bags were gifts too except for maybe 3! I just can't justify spending a lot of money on a purse unless I am really in love with it!
@Ashley_P: Yeah borrow one and see how you like it! If you do end up liking it go to a Coach Outlet some times they have really nice purses there at the fraction of the cost!
I prefer designer. I have a few LV, but only buy a new one every 3 or 4 years, and don't buy any other bags. I think it's funny that people say LV is expensive, cause like you said, for 7 Coach, you can buy an LV so at the end of the say the same amount is spend on handbag. It just depends on what you want. For me, I rather have one LV than 5 Coach.
I don't really like designer anything. I guess I'm really frugal in that area.
@pinkshoes: I love all of my Coach bags and don't regret buying or receiving any of them! I have one to go with every season and I do feel they are good quality. I could buy a LV I just can't do it! I would baby a LV bag if I got one, so I wouldn't be able to enjoy it! If it some how got damaged I will feel I am out a grand or 2! Plus right now I am loving my new MK purse!
I bought a fossil maddox stachel in black and its the best purse I've ever owned, not too big and not too small. It's a fantastic leather bag.
@MRS-K: Designer. Love my new Tory Burch my SO got me for Xmas! I don't buy them often but I find that they last way longer. I have some Coach and the TB. One day I might splurge and get a really good designer/high fashion one, but at the moment other things take priority and I can't justify spending $1,000+ on a bag!
I prefer designer just because I personally find the quality to be better. I don't care for the designer names much and (Coach-wise) always get a leather one without all the "C" symbols everywhere. I still buy other brands that appeal to me but they never last all that long depending on the quality.
I love high-end designer handbags - YSL, Gucci, Prada, LV, Chanel, Hermes, Cartier, etc
To be honest, I haven't bought/owned a coach since maybe high school. Like you mentioned, you can purchase 7 coaches for the price of one high-end bag and I guess I prefer the latter.
I don't own any designer handbag. I would gladly accept one as a gift but I wouldn't go out and buy one myself, at least not anytime in the near future (the joys of being a poor college student). I was given a fossil purse once, that's the most expensive one I own. I've orded a few from Ruche, but most of mine come from Target.
I don't own a single designer bag. I've been carrying the same 20 dollar cheapie for three years. I wouldn't turn it down if somebody gave it to me but I'm just not crazy enough about purses to spend too much money on them.
@misschickpea: My first Coach purse had all the C's on it but now I have a leather Zoe and leather Sophia which is my fave and get many compliments on it! I have had my leather Zoe and Sophia for awhile now and they both still look brand new!
I only carry designer bags. Blame that on FI though as I never carried them before meeting him. For our very first Christmas together he bought me a Coach bag w/matching wallet and I have been hooked every since.
I know that from him, on every gift giving occassion I will be getting a designer bag set. He knows how much I love them and I change my purses daily to match whatever outfit that I am wearing.
I have about 15 Coach purse sets right now. 4 Gucci sets, 4-5 Marc Jacob bags and tons and tons (can't even count them) of Michael Kors bags/wallets. I have a problem lol. Purses and Pumps are my absolute true obsessions :)
@LoganWedding2013: Like I mentioned before I have 7 Coach purses and matching wallets and 1 MK purse with matching wallet! I also change my purses a lot too and I love the variety of purses I have! My DH also got me into Coach I got my first as a xmas gift! My first kind of designer bag was a Guess purse, at the time I couldn't justify getting a Coach bag but that changed after I got my first Coach and now I never wear my Guess bag even though it is cute!
Designer only. I actually just sold all my Coach bags except 1 (had 29). At this point, I own 5 Michael Kors, 2 Louis Vuitton, 2 Fendi, 4 Gucci, 3 Marc Jacobs and a Coach
@dmk90716: I am really starting to like MK now! You have 5 wow lucky you! How long have you been collecting MK bags for?
@SapphireSun: I think we are on the same page :)
Honestly, I have trouble keeping track of a purse and do not like carrying one in general.
But I got tired of misplacing my wallet, so I have a purse/side bag (think long over the shoulder strap and the purse itself sits at my butt). It's a Nine West purse...so I don't think it costs very much or is anywhere near designer.....then again, I bought it at the goodwill for $4, so I have no idea what it would have originally cost.
@dmk90716: Oooh Fendi....yum! That is one designer I have never owned. Hmmm V-Day is coming up. I might need to start dropping some hints to FI!
I don't only carry designer bags, but I certainly reach more for my designer bags than anything else. I also don't like to switch bags so often, so now that I have a good handheld and shoulder designer bag that's basically it for me.
When I was 15 my grandmother gave me her Speedy that she bought in the 1980s. I just saw it in her closet and reached for it, and she was basically like, "Oh that old thing? Of course you can have it." It's a French Co. Speedy, and along with that I took a Toiletries Pouch, a coin purse (which I'm sure has been discontinued since she bought it in the 80s, though the TP hasn't, mine is just a lot older), and Fendi and Gucci makup pouches, which can double as clutches. I also took a Fendi cles, which I use as a wallet for all my cards and cash. I use the Fendi and LV Toiletries Pouch as my going out clutches. The Gucci I lent to a friend since I am not such a Gucci fan and I haven't gotten it back yet. I alternate between my Speedy and Neverfull mostly. The Neverfull is my everyday bag, I usually don't change it, but if I wanted something a little dressier it would be the Speedy.
I also have an assortment of other cute stuff - as you can tell I love bags. I love my LeSportsac for traveling (it has colorful sunglasses all over it), and I have a Kate Spade tote that my mom got me for college graduation/first job gift. I also have a cross body from Urban Outfitters that I love and wore for years, and a tiny floral crossbody from Forever21 that is perfect for day trips or the beach. I got it right before going on an overnight trip to Key West for my 21st birthday. I also have a really awesome black doctor bag that I got at a thrift store this summer. I also have a canvas Marc Jacobs bag that I use all the time, either inside my bigger bags to hold items that can be messy or an extra pair of shoes.
About a year and a half now. I was at one point exclusively Coach, and then all their bags got ugly to me, they're heavily counterfeited and way too common. When MK released the Grayson bag, I wanted it really bad and then that's when my obsession with them came. My shopper at MK calls me every time a bag comes in he think I might like.
and I get a glass or two of champagne.
No designer for me. I like different bags each season, and see no point in spending $200 for a bag.
I have a few coach bags that I starting getting in highschool but I find that they dont last me that long- I rarely change my bag and most of them started falling apart :( my FI got me my first LV for my birthday 2 years ago and I love it!! I used to baby it for the first year but now I’m comfortable carrying it- and so far no problems :) I also have a few dooney and bourke’s but I dont change my bags that much. I love my little coach wristlet wallet and phone holder I got for Christmas this year!! Perfect for quick outings
@dmk90716: Yeah I am not going to buy anymore Coach bags I have enough plus I find they are not as nice as they used to be! MK bags are really apppealing to me nowadays! I just got the MK multifunctional jet set zip tote and I am in love! :)
@LoganWedding2013: Purses & Pumps. . .love!
My FMIL called me out on my purse obssession when I last saw her & we only see eacher 2-3 times a year so she doesn't even know the extent of my purse festish!
I prefer designer handbags but will carry anything. . .I don't, however, carry fakes. I think it's an obession I inherited from my mom who is an avid purse/bag collector.
I've been fortunate to have been gifted "high end" bags like Chanel, Fendi, LV (my mom bought me my first one at the flagship store in Paris as a college graduation gift), Prada (there's an outlet right outside Florence. . .I think it's called Prada Space?? Dangerous!), etc so I've never purchase them myself. I was super tempted to buy a Burberry on sale at a Duty Free shop last year and still kinda regret not buying it. I also own "lower end" designer bags like Coach, Kate Spade, Tory Burch. . .which I buy at the outlets, Nordstrom Rack, or during a sale. If I really like the style, I'll also buy a bag at Target, H&M, etc. Though I have a preference, I don't descriminate.
i love my mk bag! i can justify the price because it is amazing quality and i am not one to switch out purses to often. If i do switch them out its for a cheap 20 dollar bag for an event or for a few days. Its great having a good quality everyday bag.
I wear whatever I think looks nice. I'm also a student, so the cheaper the better
My current handbag cost me $30 and it has lasted me for years! I've bought more expensive bags before and had them break on me within a few weeks/months.
But, if I did have the money I so would get a LV or Chanel bag <3
@MRS-K: I cannot be trusted with anything nice. I was given a Coach bag for my birthday (the cute yellow and tan line) and within a month it was covered in stains. I shamed myself last week because I realized that I have ZERO pre-thought when it comes to my bag (thank you ADHD) and will put it down anywhere...including the dirty ground. I'm a mess! I'm also really picky with style and or the last couple of years I just haven't liked anything so I haven't gotten anything. Although when I do get new ones I get a lot of compliments. But compliments don't keep my bags from getting wrecked! /-:
I have a couple coach and a couple dooney and bourke, I love them dearly... But I found the cutest Kavu crossbody bag at Gander Mountian (I never shop there haha!!!) and I love it more than any of my other purses and it was only $30!! I personally dont care about the name tag though, just as long as its good quality :)
I love designer bags! My dream would be a Chanel bag but they are so crazy expensive! I live in China so I find the knockoffs which are amazing here lol Right now I have a "Dolce and Gabbana" bag that was about $20!
i buy whatever i want. i'm actually not that fond of most designer bags... most of them look so boring. the only designer bags i find myself looking at are Dooney and Bourke ones... and mostly just because they have a special line just for Disney. i still haven't been able to justify spending that much money on one, but maybe someday.
I only carry designer...I wear mostly old navy and stuff from Nordstrack rack, but I never buy cheap shoes or cheap bags. I have a Gucci monogram hobo and a MARC by Marc Jacobs turnlock that I alternate between right now and my next bag will be a LV Neverfull.
I used to have a major problem with handbags. For years, when my husband, then BF, would as me what I wanted as a gift for Xmas, bdays, anniversaries, I would say a purse. When I entered grad school, I mellowed out and only received 1 in the past five years. Currently, I have 4 LVs (1 monogram, 3 Damier), 5 Coach bags, 4 Gucci bags, 1 Dior, and 1 cross body Tory Burch bag (the last I received). I tried selling them before the wedding but I had such a hard time parting with them that I pulled all my ads. lol.
I'm trying to be good and not get any more since we just got a new car, but I really love LV's Artsy bag in Damier Azur. =( Must resist!!!
It's a sack of cloth you throw crap in. I don't need somebody's fancy, expensive name on it. Said sack will carry my goodies just as well if it doesn't have a name on it. I've had the same bag since middle school (I am 26 now) and it's falling apart.
Yes, I have handbags in the two-digit to four-digit price range.
As long as I love the design, the brand is not important. But I do have my fave designers. Just because they tend to make gorgeous bags. No monogram canvas or anything like that though, it's not about screaming the brand name. Any gorgeous bag is worth my time.
I do NOT wear PVC or fake handbags, however!
I only have designer handbags (except one). I don't know WHY, I wear any brand of clothes/shoes, but I won't buy a handbag unless it's a well known brand O.o
Shoes and handbags are my thing. I'd rather send a fair amount and use it out till it is falling apart. I live in my mulberry for work and my chloe for non-work. But I also have Channel, prada, YSL. I'm not a fan of LV don't like the pattern. I do also own cheap bags and purses and clutches though. mainly bought for a certain outfit or event though. If I'm replacing one i'll by high-end.
They are little presents to myself.
I have and like both. I choose based on the look, not the label.
