I was talking to my aunt and grandmother a few days ago & they told me they NEVER take their e-rings or wedding bands off. They both pulled their rings off & their fingers actually had indentations! My aunt has taken her rings off maybe 10 times in 25 years & my grandma maybe a couple more in 50 years.

I only wear my ring socially.... I don't wear it to work or around the house (unless people are over). I fell asleep with my e-ring on once & I woke up with a huge bloody scratch on my face! lol I vowed to never let that happen again.

So... whats your stance on this- do you plan on always keeping your ring on? Do you wear your ring(s) to bed?

I take my e-ring off to sleep, and I'll probably take off the wedding band, too. I'm a violent sleeper. ;) I'm not worried about myself, though; I'm worried I'll knock a diamond loose!

I wear mine to bed, doesn't bother me at all. I sometimes take it off to work and just sit it beside me, makes me nervous to do that, but that's the only time I do take it off.

I never take mine off unless I'm cleaning...then I will if I'm using harsh chemicals or cleaning something icky, lol.

I only wear mine when i go out, or if we are having people over. Like today i sat around the house, cleaned, and played with the dogs outside, so no ring.

I never take it off.  I used to finger comb my hair out in the shower, and I would take it off when I did that (because otherwise it got snagged in my hair!), and if I'm dying or going to dip my hands in bleach for some reason, I try to remember to take it off!  But I'm SO bad at leaving things places that I would absolutely lose it if I took it off to sleep or shower, etc.

I wear mine all the time. Yesterday I had to take it off at the nail salon and I was panicked the entire time.

I cannot sleep with mine on (and to be honest, I would take it off along with taking off my watch and pulling back my hair as soon as I get home...if I could guarantee I wouldn't lose it!).

I only take my ring off when I'm working in acid, paint, tar, or also baking stuff. Well, like kneading. :) Otherwise, it's on all the time.

I only wear my ring when I leave the house.  I never wear it when I'm at home except maybe if we have company over.   I want to be completely comfortable when I'm home, so to me that means not wearing any jewelry, including my engagement ring.  I figure by doing so it also helps in keeping it clean and less risk of any damage.

I sleep with mine on.  I only take it off if I am cleaning or working with raw meat.  I've scratched myself when awake plenty, so it's surprising that has never happened when I've been asleep lol.

heh just today I woke up with a big indent on my cheek because apparently I was sleeping on my hand lol No scratch though. I almost ALWAYS wear mine except for when making meatballs or meatloaf or something.

I lost my first (thankfully insured) e-ring. My new one very rarely comes off, including when I sleep. It's never bothered me, and even though I'm a rather ... athletic sleeper, I've managed to not gouge out any of my flesh.

I take mine off when I sleep cause I'm afraid one of the prongs is going to get stuck on a blanket, and when I shower cause it pulls out my hair. Other than that, it's always on.

I wear mine constantly - only take them off when I am applying lotion after a shower or when I am cleaning them. =)

I only take mine off when I am doing rough things around the house - painting, cleaning with harsh chemicals, etc - or when I am handling raw meat or some other messy, gross thing.  I hate taking it off!

I'm with Krissycake, I wear mine all the time except for showering, applying lotion, or also when doing something really messy like kneading dough.

I pretty much only wear my ring when we have guests over or I leave the house.   I want to keep it sparkly clean, which would never happen if I showered in it and I wouldn't want to lose it while cleaning or falling off while I sleep.  We have it insured, but I can't imagine how FI would feel if I lost it.

I'm not really sure why anyone would want to bathe wearing it unless they like dirty diamonds.  Soap scum on a diamond sounds pretty unappealing to me.

I usually take it off when I wash my hands so it doesn't get scummy, that way I have to get it cleaned less. And I don't wear it in the shower or when washing dishes for the same reason but I'm also paranoid that if a diamond came out, it would go right down the drain. I don't wear it when I'm cooking because again, I don't want it to get dirty. And I rarely wear it at my part-time job (3 hours a day, 4 days a week) because I move around heavy books and my hand gets pretty smashed up - I don't want my ring to get smashed up!

So I basically only take it off if I need to...I always wear it to bed and luckily I've never scratched myself up with it.

I only wear mine outside of the house.  I'm like that with all of my jewelry.  I hate hate hate to sleep with jewelry on!!  My mum has never ever taken hers off, and now I don't think they can actually come off of her finger.

my ring has really become an extension of me.  the only time i don't wear it is when i'm in the OR doing surgery...and then it's tied to my scrubs!  i feel completely naked without it!

I don't wear mine when I'm sleeping, doing dishes, showering, or doing pedicures at work. It bothers me to wear to when i sleep. And if I don't go out of the house during the day, i don't put it on. So pretty much I just wear it when I'm out of the house.

I sleep with mine on - honestly, it's so comfortable that most of the time I forget I'm wearing it. I only take it off when showering/washing my face and at the gym. I'm terrified of it falling down the drain and I lift weights so I don't want to scratch it up.

no, i don't take my ring off before i go to bed. I'm so paranoid that i will lose it or forget to put it on in the morning. i do take it off before i shower and work though. i'm a maid so i deal with a lot of harsh chemicals.

I cannot sleep in any jewelry.. at all, I'll wake up in the middle of the night taking if off.  Mine sleeps right beside me on my night stand.  I put it back on first thing in the AM.Smile

i take my ring off last thing every night before bed. i have nightmares of forgetting one night and hurting either my FI or myself with it, since I tend to roll around a lot. I am also afraid that i'll get caught in/on some fabric and rip the fabric and/or knock one of the stones loose! This is THE most expensive thing I own and while we did not pay full price for it (yay amazing awesome stupendeous sale!) I know how much it'd cost to replace- more then my laptop is worth or my car, or both combined! NO desire to ever have to deal with that horror!

I suspect I'll take my wedding band off too, just because by then it'll be habit to take off my rings (just like the rest of my jewelery) at the end of the day.

I definitely take mine off before going to bed, and I also take it off when I do dishes...I'm a little paranoid it will fall off, and I avoid the dirt.

I sleep with my ring on. Haven't injured myself yet BUT I have gouged the FI with it a few times (sorry hunny!) The only times I really take it off are cleaning, cooking or labs, and then it is safely pinned to my shirt!

Mine is on all the time :) I try to remember to take it off before I clean with a harsh chemical or something, but other than that it is a permanent fixture on my hand.

I am not worried about it getting scrated or worn or dirty. I figure all things wear with time, and that's what jewelry cleaner is for!

Seriously, go to a jewelry store and get some cleaner for precious stones & metals. Works like a charm. Shines her right up! :P

I'm one of those who tends to lose anything I take off, so I just never take mine off.  Then again, mine is a plain gold band, so it doesn't get snagged on things.

I take mine off a lot, actually. I don't like to get soap on it because I don't like to clean it a lot, and I'm weird about "spots" on it. I'll slip it off before I wash my hands even. I take it off before I go to bed, and I don't put it back on until I walk out of the house the next morning. I don't want to get make up on it...or rip out my hair...or scratch my face. And I don't eat with it on if I am eating finger food. :) I'm just a little odd, but I take it off a lot.

Ok, I sound OCD...it's probably because it's new...
