I always worry. FI is a paramedic, so he hardly ever answers my calls. I always am freaking out thinking something happened to him on the job. πŸ™ It’s awful! I don’t think I’ll ever get over it. I wish he had a normal 8-5!

I have an overactive imagination so sometimes I start to worry before he’s even “late.” He works pretty regular hours but some days he goes to the gym so his arriving home time differs. However, if he’s ever an hour late and hasn’t called, I start to call him – so I voted for an hour. For the most part, my husband works at a desk all day so if I call or text, he’s usually able to respond right away. If he doesn’t, I start to freak out a little.

@glittermoon: I hope your hubby comes home soon! (Edited: Sorry, just realized he’s your fiance! Hope he’s home soon!)

About an hour after he gets off work.  Even if he wanted to hang out with friends, FI always gives me a courtesy call to let me know he’s safe and what’s going on (and vice verse)

@TheLionQueen: My FI’s an EMT (he also has a part time job) so I worry about him all the time too. When I hear about a major emergency going on in his area I worry. He’s in school to be a paramedic so I’ll probably always worry, haha. I’m just like that. But he knows that I worry so he does his best to make sure I know if he’s late because of work or anything else. (We don’t live together so this more applies to when we have plans.)

@galloway111: Same! We don’t live together either. This is actually worse because sometimes I fall asleep worrying when he works late night shifts. I’d rather be with him so at least I could wake up in the middle of the night, see him, and relax! Instead, I wake up in the middle of the night, freak out again, call him & wake him up, then relax. lol. Anyways, I hate to say it, but get used to the worrying. It only gets worse when they go FT as a paramedic. πŸ™ FI works out of town too, so that doesn’t really help. At least they are saving lives! Everytime I see an ambulance, I get this big grin on my face and want to jump my fiancee’s bones. haha. πŸ˜›

Mr.ND and I live in separate cities yet, so we’re pretty good about keeping one another up on what we’re doing for the day for phone call scheduling. We also text often and generally know when the other is off of work or at lunch, etc. If he’s a half hour late for a chat or a visit up here and he hasn’t sent me a quick text to fill me in, I start to get a bit nervous.

If we have a definite time set up, or if I know when he left somewhere, I’ll start worrying almost right away (like, 15 min I’ll start wondering, and by 30 min I’ll be REALLY worried).

If I was just waiting for him to get off work I think I’d be less worried if I didn’t know exactly when he left; probably wouldn’t start to get worried until 30 min – 1 hr.

@TheLionQueen: I don’t usually call FI when he’s working, even though I suppose I could because when he’s not on a call he’s just hanging out at the station. He works so many hours, I just have to let it go and not worry too much unless I know something’s going on. I absolutely love what he does and thinking about him saving lives is pretty much the sexiest thing ever πŸ™‚ He thinks I’m weird for that, lol. I was only 10 when 9/11 happened, but this last year I read a tribute to the rescue workers who died trying to save people and bawled my eyes out thinking about how proud I am of FI (and also how terrified I am of him getting into a situation like that).

He almost always makes it home before I do so if he’s a little late I start getting worried. I get paranoid, and let my mind run away. I worry he got into an accident on the way home or something. Usually it that he stopped to get gas and wash his car or pick up some things at the grocery store.

Fi has had three heart attacks this past year, and neither of us own cell phones…so if he’s more than an hour late I get anxious.

we are pretty much in constant communication with eachother so my spidy senses start tingling after 30 min or so…he’s really good at texting to tell me he’s going out with someone.

He always calls me when he’s out of work… the longest i’ve ever had to wait is 10 mins. I’d be worried if it was any longer… force of habit though…
