& give me a dollar to call my grandmother to get me, because I’ve been here since noon.”
I work in the Emergency Room (clerk), and a person said this to me today. He was trying to walk over to WalMart and call his grandmother from a pay phone to give her directions (he couldn’t get anyone on the phone we have here, I guess) and he came to me and asked if I had change. I said, “Ummmm I think I have a dollar let me check” and then he said that line. I was livid. I almost pretended I didn’t HAVE a dollar just because I do not owe anyone anything. I am a very kind-hearted person, and I have taken patients home before that did not have rides when I got off of work (that’s probably not the safest thing), I give people money ALL. THE. TIME. when they need it, if I have it. I am not trying to boast or say I’m a good person; I know I’m so flawed and imperfect. However, with patients that come in, I always smile, act polite, treat them well, and do whatever I can to help. When he said that, I seriously thought about refusing the dollar. He even had a smirk on his face as he said it.
I am not dirt. You do NOT treat me like I am less than you. I don’t care who you are. That money was out of MY OWN POCKET. UUUUUUGHHHHHHH! Sorry. I had to vent. I am so livid right now. Seriously, guy??! Why are people so stupid?? >:/
