Sara Kate Events is great! I had them at my December wedding in Manhattan and was very, very pleased!! They are reasonably priced too, which was important to me (and most brides, I think). I believe that her email is sarakateevents@gmail.com. But if it isn't then send me a private message and I will check it for you :-)
Good morning!
I can not reccomend highly enough Laura Auer of Blue Canary Events for your DOC.
http://www.bluecanaryevents.com/
she's really, really remarkable in her organization and execution.
I'm not the kind of girl that ever even considered having a wedding like I had, let alone needing a DOC and so was VERY skeptical when I started interviewing people for the job- I talked to a lot of people who rubbed me the wrong way- including one who sat there with a menu of tiny little tasks, all with tiny little pricetags attached and said, don't worry, i'll just add everything up and give you the bill after the wedding (SERIOUSLY!)
I can't even imagine if that person had been at my wedding, as I can't even count the tiny (and huge things) that Laura did to make our day special.
she took every tiny detail that mattered to me so seriously, she managed to somehow fit 160 chairs where i'd only asked her to plan for 125 so that i could have the seated ceremony my heart was set on, she worte checks to every vendor and when the ice ran short because I had ordered too little, Laura had a new delivery show up mid-party without anyone ever realizing it happened!
we had a 160 person same venue ceremony/cocktail party/reception/afterparty and she managed to flip the room THREE times with grace and ease that made people (inlcuding me at points!) not even realize what was happening.
She also ran a super efficient rehearsal for the ceremony.
I know that this post is a little over the moon for Laura, but the wedding was just a few days ago and i'm still pretty over the moon myself- her price is amazing and her work is even better. It's like having the most organized, dedicated friend making sure that you wedding is perfect.
if you have specific questions feel free to email me- valeriebowerscoombs@gmail.com
I'm using Kimberly Canale of Inspired Goodness and she's just wonderful. I'd highly recommend her and can't say how much she's improved my entire disposition toward wedding planning.
Thanks bees. I actually found someone new to the business that's got a few weddings under her belt and is really eager to work. I love breaking in new folks and I hope to provide a great testimonial in a few months.

I thought I had a DOC with junior assistant all lined up. But she wants to be with the junior member until the ceremony starts, and then head over to the reception. My problem with that is that it won't allow enough time should there be problems with the flowers or if folks are running late; by the time she gets there, we'll be about an hour plus away from the cocktail hour - unacceptable. Also, I wasn't comfortable signing off on using images and things from my wedding, when I've done everything myself - I really feel that that's false advertising.
The bad part is that she was only charing $450 (plus tax) for six hours of work. I'm looking to find a similar deal but with each person at the separate location (ceremony in Bklyn, reception in NYC). I tried the usual EAP, etc., and most everyone is booked up, since it's a holiday weekend (Sunday, May 30th).
Can anyone throw out any recommendations? Doesn't have to be "the" planner of the area, that costs, too. But someone who knows what she/he is doing, is personable but not timid, and can get the job done.
Thanks.
