@BetterSherm:  Did you pay by credit card?  Maybe you can dispute the charge.  Next, try filing a complaint with the BBB.  If she doesn’t care about her rating, she won’t do squat.  But it’ll deter future brides from hiring her if they are smart and look her up before doing so.  Then there’s Yelp and other websites where you can post scathing reviews.  

Last but not least, you can try suing her in small claims court.

Is there a clause in your contract that states they are not responsible for lost,damaged or stolen items? Might want to look, or they may have something in there about the length of time you have to report missing items.

Depending on the cost of the items damaged, you might be able to file in small claims court for repayment.  Might be a pain though.
