We are supposed to leave Tuesday. I’m in the hospital right now and ready to cry.
I was having strange back pain that felt eerily similar to when I broke it years ago. The doc took X-rays and is saying they see a defect there that needs to be looked at by my surgeon. There is no way I can get in to him, which is why I am here!!! In the stupid ER!!! Where they don’t know whether my very old surgery is failing or if I just have arthritis over a crappy surgery site.
The doc said my back was “a congealed mess of bone”. Thats when I asked for a second opinion. So here I sit and wait while hubby ran home to get my old X-rays for comparison.

@MrsDulce: oh man *hugs* that’s shitty!! I hope you are ok! 🙁 UGH. If it is important enough for him to want to postpone your wedding, it’s probably a good idea….I know it will be a pain, but could you guys reschedule your honeymoon? Or will you be losing a deposit?

I hope its nothing serious and that they are just being proactive. *hugs*

@Pixie79: We lose everything. EVERYTHING!
The worst part was this was that trip of a lifetime I’d been waiting for to be healthy enough to go. It’s been months and months of planning.
Right now we want a second opinion because hubby’s attitude is if walking is a problem he will just wheel me around Europe rather than miss it altogether.

Oh my gosh, oh no! It has to be terrifying to hear your back described that way, and to possibly need to have surgery and miss your honeymoon? Oh no!
I have chronic back pain from a 2009 car accident where I sprained my SI joint and got whiplash. Neither healed properly, and I can honestly barely stand up today. Good for you or going to the ER…spinal health is so important!

The second radiologist said it was stable, but the surgeon still needs to look at it because of it hurting. But he said it looked strong, just irritated.
I just left the hospital after being there 6 hours. Im going to call my surgeon for an appt for when we get home from our honeymoon.
We are still going to go, but will ask for a wheelchair in the airport or any place with too much walking. And hubby said I should get acupuncture again during the trip since I did that on our last cruise when I was sore and it helped.
We were terrified that the surgery was starting to fail and need a revision, but we just didn’t know how bad it was…..hurting I can handle, but slipping discs and fractures I cannot! Luckily this seems like good old osteoarthritis flaring up and aggravating a minimal amount of defect.
Not great, but I’d rather wheel around on my honeymoon than miss it altogether!
