Hi Everyone. I went for my yearly physical on thursday and before completing the pap test the doctor checked that I was not pregnant because my period was 4 days late. It’s 3 days later now so I am one week late. Could it be that I am pregnant given that my period still has not come? Or is the doctor’s test sensitive enough that it would have caught it for sure?
Thank you. I am new to this whole thing.

Did the doctor run blood or urine? If it was just a urine dip, then yes it’s possible you could be pregnant. Blood test, then it’s highly unlikely you’re pregnant.

@pearlsandpeonies: then yes, it is possible you could be pregnant. A urine dip is only so sensitive and if you don’t have enough HcG in your urine, it will not show up on a urine dip. A blood draw can detect even the faintest amount of HcG in the blood and give you a quantifiable number. If I was in your position, I’d take a home pregnancy test. If your period is a week late, there should be enough HcG to make a line show on the HPT. It’s very, very rare to be one of those women who don’t excrete HcG in the urine and need a blood test to confirm a pregnancy.

@pearlsandpeonies: yes, you could be pregnant still since it was a urine test not a blood test. I’d test with a FRER with FMU and if it still comes back negative, I’d go to the doctor for a blood test if you think you might be pregnant.
