How, exactly, does he know which testicle is/is not producing sperm? I wasn't aware this was something one could determine with an external exam....
I think the doctors are going to tell you to see a doctor =]. Particularly if he thinks he could have testicular cancer.
I know anytime anything regarding my leg bugs me, the first thing I check are my lady parts, hahaha....=P
PS-I am not an MD, I am actually a dentist....but one of my dear friends had testicular cancer...and he had a very detectable lump, but otherwise was asymptomatic
How would he know one of them wasn't producing sperm? I'm pretty sure a doc would need some testing to determine that.
In any case, he needs to get to a doctor ASAP. There are any number of things that could be wrong with him (or, he may be just fine).
What? How the heck does he know that? If he's worried he should see a doctor. Good luck. :/
Okay I'm not a doc at all and if he's worried he should obviously see a doc. But here's my thoughts:
1- people are not symmetrical. My right eye is smaller and so is my right boob. Luckily I'm the only one who notices (I hope! haha) but there is a slight difference. I think its pretty normal for guys to have one bigger than the other
2- how the heck could he tell which of them were producing sperm? Especially bc sperm and semen are different, and sperm can't be seen/felt?
3- I get headaches and have low energy all the time. Usually means I didn't sleep enough and/or I'm dehydrated. And my tummy hurt last night from the mexican food I ate.
@Miss Iowa I am not entirely sure how he knows, I didn't think so either, but he says the sperm sack isn't producing sperm. quote"the left sperm sack has no sperm in it....none"
and "I know my testicles!!!"
I'm in medical school...
tell your guy to read this and perform a TSE
http://kidshealth.org/teen/sexual_health/guys/tse.html
In case he finds a lump tell him to go to his physician
Otherwise remember it can be some back pain irradiating to the groin and knee (such as psoas syndrome).
Okay, he now wants to know why his testicle isn't making sperm?
and thanks very much gionnetto
I asked my FI about this, and now he's stumped about how your boy knows this. And then he just shrugged and said "Well, at least he knows his body."
Now he's probably wondering what in the world we talk about on this message board.
He should see a physician....and performing routine self exams is also an excellent idea! Best wishes to you both!
He might just have shin splints.
My non-doctor opinion? Stay off of WebMD diagnostic things and call the doctor in the morning. Most likely unrelated and nothing's wrong. :p
I really don't think there's any way for a male to definitively know that one of his testicles isn't producing sperm, in the same way a female can't definitively claim to know which ovary isn't producing eggs.
I'm with scissors, shooting in the dark with google is a dangerous thing. This MD says don't overthink it until he goes to see an MD in your local area.
I kinda hate to say this, since I know this really is a serious problem for you and your FI, but I think I'd freak if my FI was posting about my lady parts on the internet and had a photo of me in his avatar.
Oh gosh this is terrible..I'm sorry he's freaking out--I hate that feeling.
I don't have testicles, but I know that men cannot determine sperm production. Not to mention, the testicles only produce SPERM (being the swimmers), they don't produce the mucus and other fluids that make up most of ejaculate. Being that sperm themselves are so microscopic, there is no way to "feel" them or know which testicle is producing them.
Anyways it doesn't sound too concerning, but he could always get checked out just to calm his nerves! Good luck!
lol I didn't really think about that blackcherry! lol but he said he doesn't care. and a few other things. Anyways, thank you very much ladies! We will definitely get him to a DR. as soon as we can...now I have to kick him off of all those sites lol
I am not a fan of going to google for answers to medical questions. It sounds like he needs to be seen by a doctor to ease his mind if nothing else. It may be nothing, but he will worry until he finds out for sure. Meanwhile check out sites like Mayo Clinic and WebMD as they are both reliable.
As an anatomist I can tell you there is no way he can tell that his testicle isn't producing sperm. The sperm are produced in the actual teste and then they move to the epididymis to mature before they are expelled - there is no sperm sac! And there is no way to tell whether these anatomical parts are functioning or "full" externally. And most men have one testicle that is larger than the other just like one of your breasts is probably slightly larger than the other!
If he is concerned he should go see a physician!
If he is concerned, he should see a doctor but it sounds to me like he has just done too much googling and it is making himself crazy. Unless he feels a detectable lump, I doubt there is any cancer (my guy's testicles are not the same, it's completely normal just like boobs aren't the same).
his quote is comical, but the idea is not.. tell him to go to the doctor, may be nothing, but one of my best friends had testicular cancer when he was 23 so your not ever too young either.. don't be afriad, be informed.. that's my motto, and i'm a nurse
i agree with whoever said it sounds like shin splints... seriously, has he been running at all recently? i get killer shin splints even if i've been standing on a hard surface too long.
That being said, as far as the rest of the symptoms.. i know when i notice something weird and google it, they show a list of symptoms and think.. hmmm, yea ive been tired... yea my head hurt this am.. go to a dr! good luck.
Mr. Snow had TC. If your FI's worried, have him go see his doc and ask for an ultrasound. They're quick and painless, and then he won't have to worry about it. It would be really unlikely that his legs or knee would hurt in any way, but if he's noticed a significant change in his testicles, it would be worth his peace of mind to get it checked out.
PM me if you need/want more info, but yea, the first step is always going to be go see the doc and get an ultrasound.

I know this is totally resurrecting a dead thread, but OH MY GOD my husband keeps convincing himself he has bumps down there and asking me to check and I can't feel a thing. He doesn't want to go to the doctor to find out, either, because he had the cyst he found down there checked out a couple years ago and thinks that the general practice doctors don't know anything about it...bleh. It's a psychological thing, I think, because the idea only pops up when he's stressed, but...well, ok, can you get a referral or get in a visit to an oncologist to talk with him about the possibilities of testicular cancer/how to check, even without seeing your general practitioner? I wonder if a professional opinion would lay his fears to rest...
anyway, time to log out and log back in under my real account. thanks ladies :)

So this may be TMI but here goes nothin'. The Mr. has been complaining of knee and then severe shin pain. I told him to get into the bath and he now says it feels ton better. Well, this led to him investigating his scrotum, don't ask why, it's just a thing he does I guess. Any ways, he noticed one of them was smaller than the other. (He's telling me they don't look different, feel different). And that the smaller of the two isn't producing sperm. He's worried and asked me to look up Testicular Cancer, he has a few of the simptoms. Lower abdomin pain, head aches, and lack of energy. Thats it though. I personally think it is because he hasn't been using them lately, and thats kind of what he was thinking at first.
I know not to take anything you say as legal medical advice, but any tips, or anything would help!
Thanks girls!
By the way, I don't know if this helps or not, but it was his right leg and left testis.
