I wanted a plain silk sash for my dress to make it look a little more modern, and I randomly found a dark blue/grey that I really like in contrast with my white dress. However, my wedding colors are JCrew’s casablanca blue (bridesmaid’s dresses and ties) and hydrangea green, and my mom said my random sash color would look very out of place. Is this true? I don’t think it would clash, especially since you’re using another shade of blue for the wedding. I think mixing shades in the same family is fine.

I agree I think mixing is fine if it was say purple or orange then yea that would be odd lol but two shades of blue should be fine.

Thank you for your responses! I think my mom’s concern was the sash looks more grey-blue whereas the dresses are much more of a purple toned blue, so they would clash. I didn’t really think it was necessary to have everything be so matchy matchy, but then again, I’ve never done this before!
