I got a mani a few weeks ago with OPI's Bubble Bath, which I read somewhere is what Giada DeLaurentiis uses, and I've always thought her nails looked great. I liked it. There's LOTS of pale pink Essie shades, but most of those need a few coats to look opaque, IMO.
definitely look into essie. i use one sometimes called "fed up," but it's a little more nude than pink...i only use 2 coats when i use it though
@ohheavenlyday: thanks! ill have to try that one
I really like both OPI's Second Honeymoon and OPI's Sweet Heart. They are both pale pink and opaque.
Actually - many of the polishs in OPI Soft Shades Collection would probably be good to look at.
I second OPI's Bubble Bath. I used OPI's Pinking of You on my wedding, and it was opaque. Essie's Poppy Art Pink is also pretty opaque with two coats.
BUBBLE BATH, OPI. I bought it a month ago. bet its exactly what you're looking for. Barley there, pink tone.
I really like Essie's French Affair and Neo Whimsical. They're a bit tricky to apply yourself (I've never had a problem with them when I get a manicure) but I've found with 2 good coats and a base coat, they're very pretty.
I have Essie Allure that I got from someone a looong time ago that works pretty well. It looks very natural when you put it on.
I actually saw a couple weeks ago that it was the exact nail polish that Kate Middleton wore on her wedding day. I was like, 'that's right, I have something that a princess has" It was funny to me because I figured even nail polish would be super fancy/expensive for a princess to wear it, but apparently even common folk like me can have it!
I usually use OPI colors and REFUSE to wear sparkle or shimmer. I usually go for Bubble Bath, or Mimosas for Mr and Mrs
I always do my nails in pale pink and it always takes 3-4 coats to make it completely opaque. I haven't found a true opaque polish yet but I do have a couple tricks to make it easier:
-Do a coat of white polish first. Once that's dry, do the pale pink over top and it should be opaque.
-If the issue is it getting all goopy/taking forever to dry, do it in stages. Do one coat in the morning, say, then do the second at lunch, and then do the third coat after dinner. I find that even waiting half an hour between coats helps out a lot. I do it while watching tv at night - or a movie or something.
Definitely try OPI or Essie, they have colors just like that. I suggest checking out the OPI tool on Sephora's website.

@magilnyc: i was just looking at Fiji. I think i'll try that since it actually has "opaque" in the description
Thanks for all of the suggestions! helps alot instead of going on a wild goose chase!
I love Sephora's OPI in True Romance. I wear it all the time and will be wearing it on my wedding day too.
ESSIE has a ton of them - I find they're hit and miss - some, once you put a second coat on look quite streaky. 'Ballet Slippers' & 'Spaghetti Strap' are quite nice...
I've never tried OPI..
@Gingersnap: oh! never thought of trying white polish first, i'll have to give it a go!
As mentioned OPI Bubblebath or my Essie favorite, BBF, best boyfriend...bottles gone already
Essie Spagetti Straps or Essie Ballet Slippers which is what Martha Stewart wears.
I am going with Essie allure on the tips and then Bourjois #45 Rose Lounge. Yes it was kate Middleton did for her wedding. OK so I am officially a Bride Nerd, but love the look. Elegant and clean looking. I have been trying new polishes for 2 months now. This is the one I like to best. Essie is easy to get, Bourjois is a bit harder. It is only sold in the UK and Canada. I have a friend who is Canadian and she had her sister go to Shoppers drug mart and pick it up for me. $10 a bottle so no priness price on this stuff.
I have not had good luck with OPI (it chips really easy on my nails) but China Glaze lasts forever and has a ton of colors including opaque pink.
Here's several ideas to browse through for inspiration:
http://polishaddict.com/?s=pink (last entry is 2 yrs old so some colors will be discontinued)
I like Revlon polishes- most of them are opaque. I like their "lilac pastelle" polish- it's an opaque, pale pink, with just the slightest hint of pale purple to it. Very pretty and cheap!
opi privacy please is a great one, second honeymooon is too w a slight salmon undertone and pinking of you is my new fav!
Seems like OPI's Bubble Bath is a popular color! Think I'll be picking that up tomorrow.
I love the OPI Sweetheart one and Bubble Bath:) I am thinking of using one of them for my wedding. I do not want to get my nails done or a shellac. A nice mani will do:)
Just a word from a former nail polish junky--if you want a really opaque look, apply about 3 very thin coats. It'll dry and cover more evenly. If you put it on too thickly, you'll get nasty air bubbles and it will look kind of awful, especially if you do several thick coats without giving proper time for drying between coats. (At least 5-10 minutes after first coat, 10-15 minutes after second coat, and give yourself a clear hour after the third coat where you don't need to touch anything with your nails. Test dryness by running your finger over it--if it's at all tacky or sticky, give it more time.)
Topcoat is a nice touch. Let that dry for EVER.

I'm desperate for an OPAQUE pale pink polish without iridescence or glitter. I've tried a few and in order to make it opaque you have to put three coats on and it looks cakey and goopy. I have yet to try Essie polishes so hopefully that works. does anyone have any other suggestions?
