Sometimes, but I do it anyway for shower gifts.  What I hate even more is buying things I know will be sitting in someone’s parents’ basement for years.. which seems to happen with almost all of my friends!  So, I usually give cash for the wedding gift, unless I know the couple really wants certain registry items.

I don’t like it either… so if I don’t see something that “I want” I just buy them a giftcard or give them money (that way it hurts  a little less-heehee).  I’m certain people must look at our registry and think we’re boring.  Everything is plain (dishes, servingware – basic white, no patterns) or wooden.  I just didn’t like the idea of decorating our kitchen with current themed stuff (birds?) or current color schemes then in 5 years not be into it at all or have it look dated.   (Although, admittedly, our wedding decor will probably look dated and trendy in 20 years when we look back! But who’s doesn’t?!?!)
