One of my bridesmaids sang me down the aisle to "The Way I Am" by Ingrid Michaelson. Not exactly weird but not exactly traditional either. It was perfect :)
@bakerella: That is an awesome idea. I love it when friends do stuff like that. I surprised mine by singing their first dance rather than playing the song on a cd. But I love the personal touch what you did has.
I think it depends on the formality of your wedding and if such a quirky song choice fits you as a couple... I'm assumming you're talking about the original terminator music. It's a little more ominous than most people might expect, but I think if you use the later part of the song where there are higher notes and the music swells a bit, then that will be better than just starting it at the very beginning (like somewhere around 1:07 on this copy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68I3j2luW64 thought I'm not sure I love the clanking noise that starts around 2:47 either). The very end seems like a pretty dramatic entrance :)
If it fits your wedding and you both as a couple, then go for it...it's unusual for sure, but I dont think it's inappropriate.
@Pwitty:I'm actually thinking the one from the second movie. The softer more orchestral one. I have personally always thought it was a pretty song, it just happens to be from my favorite movie.
I'm walking down the aisle to an accoustic guitar version of a song from one of my favorite video games, so I say GO FOR IT!!! This day is supposed to be all about showcasing you and your FI. Do whatever makes y'all happy. Not everyone will get it, but those who do will appreciate it.
I'm walking down to ABBA's "I Do, I Do, I Do". Most people remember that as the song "Mariel" walked in to in "Murial's Wedding".
I think it's totally fine to enter to a unique song that you love. Once trend I think is great is having a string quartet or acoustic guitarist cover a song that's usually much different (think heavy metal, video game themes, etc). Then you get to know what it is and have basically an inside joke with the people who "get it," but all the grandmothers in the audience will have no idea, so they won't be offended. Just a thought.
I have never seen this is a "real" wedding, but I have loved the concept since I saw The Wedding Singer when they're playing a string quartet version of Journey I think. I really really want to walk down to a string quartet version of Brown Eyed Girl.
I am walking down to the instrumental interlude for Kanye West's "All of the Lights". FI picked it out and is geeked since we both LOVE Kanye West annnd I love piano/violin music. Win!
I'll be walking down the aisle to Avenged Sevenfold's Warmness on the Soul.
Im not walking down the aisle to a weird song, but i suppose some people might think my bridesmaids are......the beautiful ones.....suede
i thought it was quite fitting...''here they come, the beautiful ones....'' but the song is not really a weddingy type song, but its always been my FIs favorite , and it'll work well when the girls are walking towards the gazebo......
im walking down the isle to dj sammy-heaven but the candlelight version = )
I'm trying to convince my FI to walk in with the theme from Star Trek Deep Space Nine. If he doesn't use it, I might. :)
My music is not "weird" by any means...but I am not going the traditional route. My party is walking down to "Count on Me" by Bruno Mars. I am walking to "If You Believe" by Jim Brickman (it is only piano music).. still trying to find the right song to walk out to. Thinking "I Do" by Colbie Calliet or "I'd Rather Be With You" by Joshua Radin, OR "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz
I love that people won't expect it- and it is music more fitting to US! :)
I didn't do a traditional song or a "wierd" one. I just didn't want a different song for me than for my DH. We all walked to the same song.
We walked to The Temper Trap's "Sweet Disposition". Again, not weird - but definitely non-traditional. For me, the Terminator theme kind of crosses an inappropriate line, but perhaps your family/friends will find it funny?
I'm walking down the aisle to a completely instrumental "Smashing Pumpkins" song. It's very pretty and I guess the song isn't weird but the fact that Smashing Pumpkins is a rock group from the 90's known for their songs about depression is weird I suppose.
My FI is a musician, and is composing a piece....so I guess that's non-traditional??
we're getting married outside and i'm thinking i might walk down the aisle to "what a wonderful world"

I'm a total nerd and I'm honestly thinking of walking down the aisle to the Terminator theme. My friend's wedding was last weekend and he entered to the Star Wars theme so I know I'm not alone on this.
Anyone else going this route? Or am I a nut.
