The day we first met with the florist, I had a dream that I was trapped in these flower-ropes and I couldn't get out.
I had one other wedding nightmare, where in the dream the wedding was tomorrow, and everyone was running around trying to get ready at the last minute. I remember in the dream thinking that my fiancee had seen me multiple times (bad luck) but it was just too bad because we had work to do! When I woke up, I actually had to talk myself out of believing the dream was real!
But, you know what, even in that dream everything turned out okay. We were married by the end of it! Your dreams are probably just things you are stressed out about, so they are helping you make decisions, like with the limo! It'll get better when you have the details worked out more fully.
I get them off and on. Sometimes I'll have a really nice dream that inspires me with something in the wedding. Other's I wake up going "Oh my God!!" and hhyperventilating because the dream scared me awake!
The worst one so far was right after my first dress shopping trip. My mom and two grandma's went with me, and I had this dream that they stuck me in this ridiculously disgusting dress that I hated but for some reason let them pick out for me. Everyone at the wedding cringed at how terrible it looked and I remember Mr. O being royally ticked that I had let them dress me.
The best was when I woke up knowing what kind of a theme I wanted to use (orchids if you couldn't guess). It was great and Mr. O loved it!
I have a recurring nightmare that I forgot to get my dress altered and so it's still way too big and I have to get married that way.
Not nightmares -- just bizarre wedding-related dreams. Like last night, I dreamt the mister had an extra copy of our invitation, and was chitchatting with a friend (who, bizarrely, I didn't know), and then just whipped it out and conversationally invited him to the wedding. Like, what?!
This makes me feel better! We're still a year out and I'm already having nightmares!!!! Not Cool. Mine are usually being late, wearing a 1980's prom queen dress, and my hair frazzled running to the ceremony... I hate being late to things so i think that's why I'm already dreaming about this... as in even my wedding nightmare's can't wait to make thier appearance! It's going to be a looooong year if these keep up!
I am 4 days away so my wedding related nightmares are kicking into high gear. Last night's dream involved the wedding being cancelled because of snow... in July ![]()
You are definitely not alone with the bizzare dreams/nightmares!
I'm with Rasgoola, but I suppose that's not surprising since we share the same wedding date. I dream something horrible every single night at this point.
Last night featured me forgetting to go for hair and make-up, forgetting the train of my dress, and having my grandfather be the only person around to help me into the dress. This last part is particularly bad, because my beloved grandfather has been dead for 4 years.
The up-side is that at least I've been falling asleep the last couple of nights!
I have them a couple times a month. The most recent one was that we got married in Hawaii and forgot to pack things. What we remembered to pack was spread out in several people's hotel rooms, and I didn't have the keys for any of them and no one could be found! I was late to my own wedding.
I had a handful of them before the wedding, but it wasn't too bad. I just woke up feeling really really glad that it was just a dream. It's probably due to the pre-wedding stress and I was able to make it through ok with the support of all our friends & family. Hang in there!
i had a dream that i was getting dressed the morning of, but my dress was short...i mean like SHORT short, instead of long like mine actually is. the worst part was that i hadn't shaved my legs, and had no time to sort them out. no one would let me get to the bathroom to sort them out and it was altogether very stressful!!
My latest dream went like this: I was in my dress with nothing else on. My hair was a mess, no make-up on, barefoot, no garter or undergarments. My dad (who is our officiant) forgot Bear's name (called him David - not even close!). No one was at the reception but my dad's mother and sisters and some make-belive family members that aren't even close to being real. Everyone else was at some club/rave something. Ugh. It was a total disaster.
Guess what Bear dreamed about that same night....us buying our wedding rings. lol! here I am, stressing out and he's having a sweet, loving, happy dream. argh!
I had my first wedding dream the night we hit the 100 day mark. It wasnt a nightmare but I saw the entire beginning of the day play out - even looking through the window & it was raining & then it stopped as soon as I put my dress on. I felt this was a nice dream b/c I almost changed my wedding date b/c of hurricane season; however, I prayed a bit & asked God on 10/10/08 (last year) "If I doesnt rain today, I wont change the date" I was really nervous because it had been raining for two weeks straight & I was considering the date. BUT IT DIDNT NOT RAIN THAT ENTIRE DATE - I even drove out to my potential venue to make sure it wasnt raining around it ;) and It wasnt. So having that dream sort of calmed me again since we are back in hurricane season & it's been really rainy in Miami.
I then had another dream which was a nightmare. I got a call from the coordinator at the venue that they had to move our wedding to that Saturday, and it was Friday in my dream - so we had one day to do everything we havent done to this point - which is plenty.
I hope they dont get any worse :)
we are less than 2 months away and I had my first nightmare last week. In the dream EVERYTHING was wrong. The centerpieces were red roses (my flowers are white and green hydrangea and mums). The tables were set on a hill, so the food was sliding off the plates and I was in tears.
There has only been the one nightmare, hopefully there won't be any more.
I used to have the same dream--that suddenly it was the wedding day and NOTHING was ready. No dress, no officiant, no music, no plan. But all my guests are there...sitting...waiting for it to start. I think I had this dream about 20 times during my engagement!
@kitten - I have essentially that same dream over and over! It's not always exactly the same, but always that nothing is ready, that I've forgotten to do really important things, and that everyone is there and I'm running around like crazy trying to find the (dress, photographer, food...)
At least I pretty much know what that dream is telling me--start checking stuff off the to-do list! And fast!
My dream last night was that I had to invite my exboyfriend and his crazy family to the wedding. So scary! That's why I didn't marry him!
Aaah! But hearing all your dreams makes me feel better.
Thanks bees!
Omg I had my first one last night!!
We're getting married in Vegas so last night I drempt that we flew to Vegas got all the way there and then right before the ceremony I realized that I had forgotten to pack my dress! So I went to the nearest bridal store there and the dresses there were so hideous and 80's-ish with huge ruffles and lace and huge poofy sleeves...
And then I woke up, completely relieved that it was just a dream.
I only had one vivid one that I remember.
It was the wedding day and I was walking outside of the church in my regular clothes (going somewhere I guess) and I hear the processional music starting to play. And I look at the person walking with me (not sure who it was) and asked them what time it was. They said it was 3 (the time our wedding was scheduled to start). And I start to freak out because I need to be ready to walk down the aisle and I hadn't even showered yet, plus nothing else was ready like flowers, etc.
I haven't but FI had one the other night where he wasnt wearing his suit jacket and didn;t have the rings and I was so mad at him I didnt marry him!
i had a vivid one the other night where i had forgotten it was my wedding day. i didn't have a cake, i didn't have any music set up. for some reason we were getting married in my parents house, and when i tried to get music from my mom's computer it wouldn't work because it had a virus. then FI suddenly realized he forgot to invite his parents! oh and we hadn't had any meetings with the officient, and he had expected us to write our own vows which we didn't do... i think every single thing went wrong... haha
My last one was bad; we were at the chapel, ready to go, but I apparently didn't call the baker to let them know what size cake we needed. And in my dream, no cake meant no wedding. So I'm sitting there sobbing, and my teenage daughter (rotten!) makes some remark about my shoes and I was livid, like ready to slap her publicly. I woke up exhaused, and feeling miserable.
Most of them stem around Fi being missing in some way. Maybe I'm afraid he'll change his mind? Either way, I'm ready to be done with it. Make the dreams stop!
I had one after reading Weddingbee a few nights ago.
I dreamed it was raining, and I had to hide inside a shelving unit to keep my dress dry. Then, instead of marrying FI, I was getting married to one of my classmates instead. I'm pretty sure looking at photos on Weddingbee triggered the last part, because the classmate in the dream resembled one the husband of one of the bees!
I had wedding nightmare that everyone wore jeans to our wedding! what horror!
I had one where it was the wedding day and the girls couldn't find their bridesmaids dresses and then we realized that we forgot to shop for them! I was having a hard time narrowing down dresses for the girls in real life so I guess it came out in the dream.
My husband had a dream about the guys not having their tuxes...so check in with your fiance to see how he is coping too! :)
I had one a couple weeks ago where we showed up at the church and had forgotten TONS of stuff. Our flowers didn't come, I looked like hell, and we hadn't actually picked out readings yet. Almost everything had some kind of flaw. But in my dream I was like, "Whatever, at least it's all done after today!" At some point I realized I was having a dream and was really bummed out that even if it was totally messed up, I kind of wanted the whole thing to at least be over with :)
OMG, YES! I had a HORRIBLE nightmare that we were married in an auditorium and there were several people who had crashed the ceremony and would not stop talking and being disruptive. One of my bridesmaids asked them to quiet down so we could proceed with the ceremony and a huge fight ensued. After the fight, we said our vows and when I went to kiss my partner, it was my FATHER. I woke up sweaty and justifiably frightened! LOL
We haven't even formally set our date yet and I'm having them!
The first I had played out this way: I go dress shopping with my Mom, and after I've tried on a few dresses that I'm indifferent to suddenly I'm being whisked away to our "venue" - which is a high school gymnasium (!!!) - and guests that I didn't invite and bridesmaids I didn't choose are preparing for the ceremony.
I kept saying "wait, I didn't get to send out invitations, or have a wedding shower or ANYTHING!"
Then suddenly Michael Jackson was there offering me a homemade apple fritter.
I had one last night where we were called up for our first dance and we hadn't picked the song yet ... so the DJ asked us over the mic to choose the song while everyone was staring at us ... odd
I had a dream that everything went wrong. I Forgot to put on the dress for the ceremony, the person who was supposed to do my hair didn't show up and my drunk mother tried to do it, the pastor didn't SAY ANYTHING at the alter, my FI wrote his vows and I forgot to write mine, AND IT RAINED so we couldn't get good pictures. Do you think I'm stressing about the wedding at all???
I definitely have control issues that lead to my nightmares. Everytime something comes up that my FI gets to make the final decision on, I have a nightmare that it's going to turn out awful! This ranges from the engagment ring to the groom's cake! I think it's because I do so much research on every little detail and he's more likely to pick something on a whim. And since we have about 11 months to go, I really need to relax, cause it's just gonna get worse!

I periodically get wedding dreams--nightmares. Last night I dreamed that for some reason the ceremony was on Friday and the reception was on Saturday. My FI and I didn't wear our dress and tux because we didn't know we had to dress up for the ceremony. So weird and embarrassing in the dream.
My other dream was that all of my bridesmaids were over an hour late to the wedding and I had to decide whether to start without them. The next day (in real life) I booked a limo to take them to the ceremony because the nightmare was so bad! I sleep better now.
What are some of your dreams? Has it altered your wedding planning?
