I want to go see "Bridesmaids" but no one is available to go with me so I'm going alone. Anyone go alone ever? (I heard the movie was super funny)

I go alone to tons of movies :) Most of my good friends live a ferry ride or farther away, so whenever there's a movie I want to see that I know DH won't like, and none of my friends are available/in town, I just go on my own.

TBH there's something I find super enjoyable about seeing a movie alone. I find I get a lot more immersed in the plot and cinematography if I'm not with anyone :)

Yup, it's totally cool.  You can't talk during a movie anyhow!  I went and saw Something Borrowed by myself last week.

I went to a movie alone once and it was totally liberating! It was when I first moved here and didn't know anyone. Now I always have someone to go with. I should do it again soon, actually. It can be really fun!

Yep, I go all the time! I went to see Source Code on my own last Friday. It was awesome. Sometimes it's just nice to not have to worry about being "on" for someone, and you can just sit and relax in a dark theater and not have anyone bother you for 2 hours. It's pretty sweet.

I'd like to but FH never lets me! I think the last time I went alone I was 13 (The Horse Whisperer)

I have gone to the movies alone a lot.  I haven't recently because going to the movies has just gotten so expensive!

I love going to the movies alone.  When there are things no one wants to see with me, i love having a quiet afternoon.  I get my popcorn and bring a book to read before it starts.  Going to the movies with other people is preferable, but every once in a while a movie alone is great.

Bridesmaids was SO GOOD.  I can't wait to see it again.

I go out to eat, to the movies, shopping...I do pretty much everything alone. :/
Most of my friends are either in a different city, or married, and we don't get together much.

It used to bother me...now it's just "meh."

Bridesmaids was HILARIOUS though! I saw it yesterday! :)

@windycitygirl22:  It was ok but not great, imo.  I read the book a while ago, and what makes the book good, the complexity and history of the characters, the movie just lacks.  Maybe if I hadn't read the book I would have liked it, I don't know.

I love to go to the movies alone - it's actually one of my favorite things to do if I have an afternoon/evening to myself.  My husband will only go see art house/foreign/really well-reviewed movies, and I love to go see rom coms, chick flicks, whatever.  Like previous posters have said, it's kind of liberating - you go see whatever you want, whenever you want, sit wherever you want, read a book before it starts, get as many snacks as you want, don't have to worry about anyone immediately asking you what you thought when the credits roll...  When I was younger I worried that everyone was looking at me like "doesn't she have anyone to go to the movies with?" but now I can tell you for certain that no one looks at you and no one cares.  :o)

All the time. I have no shame and even if I did I have no pride. I go out to eat alone too. I don't care, I think I'm awesome and love spending time with myself. :P

I've done it twice and did not enjoy it. I felt very alone and self conscious, but that's just me.

I have never been alone but have often wondered about it, but I'm just not brave enough to go alone.

I do sometimes!  It's very relaxing to just take some time for yourself and enjoy a good movie!

I go to the movies every Tuesday by myself, well as long as there is something good to see. That's the day the movies is cheap. I am really comfortable by myself, but the first time I did it, I wondered if other people noticed, but after a few times I could have cared less.  DH works second shift, so I'm alone quite often. I will even go to dinner by myself sometimes.

I love going to movies alone, nobody to talk through the whole movie and bother you! I always go to an early movie though, when there's pretty much nobody going to a movie. It would annoy me to go alone and be surrounded by people.

I go alone all the time. I actually love it. Like someone else in here said, its liberating. I go Saturday mornings to the 10 or 11 am show, and there's usually no one there, so its perfect.

Haven't done it in awhile, but more because I'm more of a TV person than a Movie person. I def think that it helped me become a better person. When you feel comfortable going out to eat alone or see a movie by yourself, it's very freeing. I knew I could (and am) just fine and don't need to depend on someone else for my entertainment.

Do it! I actually took myself on a movie date this week...to see Bridesmaids! :) It was awesome. Then I took myself for sushi afterwards. My SO works nights, weekends and holidays so I take myself on a lot of dates. It was really fun. I felt spoiled. And it's an awesome movie. Don't miss out. :)

@windycitygirl22: I do. Not by choice though. If I lived closer to Justin we'd go together. But since I'm on the East Coast and he's on the West, I'm stuck going by myself. It's not so bad, most of the time. Sometimes when it's a super love / comedy it's hard to watch alone.

@windycitygirl22: OMG, I really want to see Bridesmaids too!! I was just considering going to see it alone the other day. I've only once seen a movie alone and felt a little awkward. But that was years ago. I'd totally do it now and think you should too!

I have. I have no problem with it. FH works all the time and when he's not at work he's at school. I don't have many friends that live anywhere near me, so most of the time if I want to go to a movie I go alone. Especially if it's some sort of movie that FH thinks will be a chick flick. Of course, I have to drive an hour to go see a movie because the movie theatre here is really sketchy and dirty. But, no one to share popcorn with or talking to you during the movie... it's nice. I haven't done it in a while... the last movie I went to go see was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, but I took my mom : )
