I apologize if this is redundant, but does anyone have a complete ceremony-through the end of the reception song list that they have their DJ? I’m a little nervous about our DJ and would feel better if we gave him a complete list.
Our reception is from 6-11 and we mostly like classic rock music, though we want everyone to get up and dance. Some pop/county is fine. Not a huge fan of rap music.

Honestly, if I felt that I had to give my DJ a start to finish list, I wouldn’t have hired a DJ, I would have used an iPod.
We gave our DJ a few songs for each section of the night to give him an idea of what we wanted, there was a do not play list that was very specific and a few must haves (first dance, last dance, processional, recessional…) but the point of hiring a DJ is that they know how to read a room, it’s their job. If you’re that uncomfortable with your DJ I’d look for a new one.

I’ll echo PP that we are giving our DJ songs that are must plays, as well as a do not play list. Our must play list is pretty long, as there is a lot we really want to get in there, but there is some room for her to play other music. Just be clear on your preferences and you should be fine if the DJ is experienced. Good luck!

er1nya: Agree with the PPs. I have a song list for the ceremony and our first dance and family dances, but other than that, I’m only giving him a list of the guests’ song requests which he can decide to play or not, a few no-play songs, and he’ll take it from there. I have a lot of confidence in our DJ and his ability to read the crowd. He’ll get the party started and keep it going till the end. I’ll let you know in 40 days if I have to eat these words. 😉

Maybe I”m just a control freak- I think I’d be nervous about any DJ but that’s just me. Is anyone comfortable sharing their list with me?
