I've done it for about a month. I really loved it (am actually thinking of trying to start again once I get over this cold). It's incredibly hard (like could barely walk for a week), but I felt like I saw results incredibly quickly! The only con is it's also incredibly time consuming (its at least an hour a day and 3 days its 1.5 hours) and you get one day off. I started skipping due to work obligations and then I eventually just stopped. It is an awesome workout though.
It is bloody hard. Like I'm not in that great of shape, but my friends who are... can't do it. I literally like sweat bullets and have shaking legs from the yoga. Its INTENSE.
If you try it and its too hard, Insanity is the step down.
I've done Cardio X and the yoga. I don't do all of them- I stick mainly to the Cardio X and I've lost 4 pounds since I've started back up with it. It's the shortest one too, so it's easier to get the workout in. My DH does them all and he's fit and lean and I'm flabby so I've been stepping up my game.
This is all really good to know! I expect I will be insanely sore... but that's okay. I am decently fit (I'm no athlete), so I will do what I can! I really want to step up my game!
I borrowed the discs from a friend (who gave up) and just made my own schedule with it. It is SO hard, but if you do it every other day, instead of the daily requirement, I feel like you're less likely to quit. Just go for a jog on the days you skip so you're still burning calories. Good luck!! :)
FI and I got through almost all of the first round (we stopped like around day 75 because summer fun > working out). I really enjoyed it, I agree with the fact that it takes up a lot of time though. It definately toned me up. Now I just do Yoga X, Ab Ripper and I put in some of my own workouts inbetween. I rotate those every other day.
It's hard as hell but it works! Stick with it - don't get discouraged. It gave me the best results out of any fitness program I have ever tried! :)
That is so great! I definitely don't want to get discouraged. I am just going to try my best and do what I can while still challenging myself :)
@Eireann: go for it!!
I definitely have to press pause A LOT. But the most important thing - is to keep pressing play!
I'm doing it right now and enjoy it. Be sure to follow the nutrition plan. Remember, 80 percent of your results are based on nutrition. I also recommend checking out the Beach Body message boards. There's a lot of helpful information on those boards.
I'm on an accountability thread that's pretty good. It's nice because there are a lot of knowledgeable people on there who have completed the program. Everyone's really friendly, so feel free to join.
my FI has got to day 60 twice and I know a few guy friends who completed it... just seeing him do it made me exhausted! however I've been doing EA active 2 on the ps3 (also aval for wii and xbox360) and it is a great workout... I lost 15 lbs on EA Active 1 and thought a change would do me good.... 2.5 weeks into the 9 week challenge :) i recommend (im about the same size as you now)
@eagle: You're right about that!! :D
@amanda06: Definitely! I totally understand that nutrition is most of it. I definitely want to follow the plan and am going to keep track of what I eat, calories, etc. Thank you for letting me know about the thread! I think I will check it out :)
If you have trouble with the P90X ones at first, you can get the older P90 workout. I totally couldn't do P90X, but P90 is less intense, and it's a good way to start. It's just two DVDs. It's meant to take 90 days, too, so you could do it first and then do P90X after!
@Eireann: Nice! The nutrition plan is not too bad. I'm in phase one, which is a heavy-protein diet, so you definitely don't feel hungry. I think you'll enjoy it. :)
Oh, I forgot to mention that there's a thread with before and after shots of women here. It's a really long thread, but it's really motivating because some people have had great results. It's also nice because us women seem to get the results a little slower than men, and there's more women-specific advice. The thread doesn't appear be active now, but if you have a lot of time to kill, there's some good, motivating information.
I haven't personally done it but my FI lost like 80lbs in 7 months or so by doing P90X and eating right.
@amanda06: Oh that is wonderful!! My fiance and I have tried the weight-loss stuff together for awhile.. and even though I do more and try harder, he always gets results so much more quickly/easier than I do!! Thanks for this thread. I love seeing progress photos. SO inspirational.
@Aure: That is absolutely amazing!
@JessB12: I didn't know that! Thank you :)
I did P90x... It was really hard... and by like day 60 I got really bored with it because the workout were so long... and honestly didn't lose as much as I was wanting I didnt see any dramatic changes... I think p90x is more geared for men and I think men benefit from it more. I had and have no arm strength and felt alot of the workouts required them.
I would suggest getting insanity instead... it is still a tough workout but I've done this and seen incredible results from this. The pros this has over p90x for me was that I lost a good deal of weight compared and also the workouts went by so much faster, I didn't get bored with this workouts. I think insanity allowed me to lose more weight because its more cardio and interval/circuit training...
@Petor2011: Thank you! I will definitely check out Insanity as well. Have also heard wonderful things about it!!
Ok so here's my experiance I did it for 3 whole months stuck to the program ,went on a diet and Omg, I bulked up!!!! LOL me n FI had planned to go to maui and I wanted to get fit so I ordered the discs and did it how it said and so I was super shocked when FI asked me to stop because he said my thighs were getting rock solid and bigl like a football player!!! Hahahaha I don't know why I bulked up.lol my sister and mom love to remember how I looked in my shorts they said it looked like my thighs were super heavy and making it hard for me to walk.lol by the way I'm 5'2 140 pounds super pear shape body so ya I looked hilarious!! Lol
We were doing P90x for a while. Well mostly him and then I would join in on occasion. (He would usually work out when I was at work, but sometimes we could work out together). The dvds are great!
Now he's been working out at a friends home gym and I've been going to Latin Cardio classes and zumba classes and using the "Your Shape evolved" game on the kinect. I know it sounds lame but I have seen results and it really kicks my butt!!
@Firestarter: I know what you mean! I used to have a Kinect and I had that game and it kicked my butt too!
It is a great workout! Stick with it! I lost 50lbs my first round of it! I am now doing Turbo Fire and Chalean Extreme! I TOTALY love these ones! Im asctually a Beachbody coach- so I am happy to help with any questions you might have. =D
@lovebugfouts: That is so awesome! Congratulations! I have heard nothing but great things about many of the beach body workouts! I will definitely come to you if I think of any questions once I get started :)
I started P90X a few years ago when I was in great shape already. It was tough, but doable, but I agree with PP that it is more geared towards men. It is highly joint intensive and my elbows, knees, etc were killing me. And I regularly do lots of pushups.
I second PP who mentioned Insanity. I think it's less joint intensive and less boring, but super effective. I've never completely the program, just do it when I feel like it, but I much prefer it to P90X (still a great program though).
Also, I hate to say it, but Tony Horton is beyond irritating. A total clown. But after the first week you can just mute him!
if your looking for weights - not super geared towards men... (although i have done p90x and i am a woman) I would recommend Chalean extreme. Insanity is HIGH impact because its a lot of running, jumping and burpees.
I did the whole program with my fiance and stuck to the schedule and toned up like crazy. Loved how sexy my arms and butt turned out. Don't give up and just pause. Push ure self till u feel the burn and r doing the excerises properly. If u get so tired ure doing them wrong u can hurt ure self. Also don't try to get the yoga moves perfectly till u get a bit more flexible. Enjoy it, and I'm sure u can do it!!!
I LOVE TurboFire! I did a month of it post-wedding and lost 4lbs and 7.5 inches without even dieting. I'd still be doing it but I injured myself climbing out of bed... stupid, I know. But one thing that BeachBody also offers is a "meal replacemnt" shake called Shakeology. I usually use it as a snack. Its got a ton of vitamins and protein, and I feel better overall since starting it. Might be something you want to check into!
I'm also a BeachBody coach.. just started! If you want some one-on-one accountability, or even a group challenge like atmosphere, let me know! You don't even have to use any BeachBody products if you don't want to! Although, I find them a better workout than running or even going to the gym ;)
Best of luck with whatever you choose! PM me if you have any questions! :)
If your going to order a program, or anything from beachbody I would recommend ordering through a coach, this way you get extra fun stuff like a free workout. This is the link I use. http://beachbodycoach.com/AshleysFitness I did the challenge pack - the shakeology and turbo fire so that I could get the discount price too. =D Hope this helps.

Hi bees!
I have always struggled with my weight. I am about 5'7" and 160 lbs right now. Two years ago, I lost 20 lbs (down from the 180's!) and have been able to keep most of it off... flip flopping here and there. I'd love to get down to 145 or so, but it's been very hard for me to get there and stay motivated. Now that I am getting married in about 6 months, I'd really like to get serious and work out consistently. I was doing pretty well for a week or so, but then I got bronchitis and am still recovering. I plan to start the exercise routine back up once I am feeling better.. and my fiance and I decided to order the P90x DVD's. I know they have helped people get some pretty awesome results, and was just wondering if any of you have had any experience with it and what your thoughts were? I know it's going to be pretty intense but I am excited!
