a friend of mine has three. they’re cute, i’ll admit that. but they smell, and they make this annoying squeaking noise. however, if you have rabbits, you’ll be used to the smell. it’s the same.

I used to have two, they’re cute, a little noisy & messy, but if you’re looking for a pet to really cheer you up, I’d check out pet rats, they’re much more social. My guinea pigs didn’t really do much or seem to really care about me, you know?

i’ve had 2 guinea pigs. i loved them! the squeaky noise they make is adorable. they used to do it when they heard the fridge door open. one thing to know is they need a big flat habitat like this one (most cages at the pet store are too small):

they don’t climb so you don’t even need a top on the cage. one of my guys used to run up and down the hallway. i trained him to go back in his cage to potty so he was allowed out while i was home and could keep an eye on him. they’re a committment as htey live up to 7 years but they’re so worth it!

That’s too bad about rats being banned, they are amazing! Mine knew their names and were the friendliest little guys ever.

I haven’t had a guinea pig personally, but I believe that they should be kept in pairs (just like rats)… they can develop anxiety if left alone! Very social creatures.

My brother and I used to have guinea pigs. We had two, both female, but we didn’t realize one was pregnant when we bought them, so we ended up with four! They’re cute and squeaky and they love fresh fruits and veggies 🙂

Hi there!

I have three lovely little pigs. They are shy at first but if you give them a couple of months they will get used to you. Their names are Pepper, Pancake, and Wheatie. I clean their cages once a week or two weeks with a bit of spot cleaning each day, and mine don’t smell whatsoever (trust me if they smelled I wouldn’t get them)

DM me if you need any info.

@PermaStudent:  Haha that one is Pancake. At first when I went to pet her, she flattened down to the ground so the name stuck. 🙂

I was (and still continue to be) depressed and they tend to cheer me up with their silliness.

I had them as a teen and loved them! You do have to clean their cage every three days so they’re not quite as easy as a hamster but they have a lot of personality. I unfortunately developed an allergy while I was away at college so I didn’t get another one after my last one died.
