I have a 25 lb dog. The leather couches that I have are fine. My dog is a small to medium size dog. He’s never scratched at it or anything. When he is on the couch he sits on one of the pillows lol. Much easier to clean since you have dogs and especially kids! Lol I think u will love having the leather. Before u get it, keep in mind how your dogs are now with the couch That u do have. If they scratch etc

It depends on the dogs.  I have 2 relatively calm 50 lb dogs,  I had a nice leather couch for about 8 years.  The dry air from the fireplace did it in, not the dogs.  My father bought the same exact couches and they were ruined within a year by his dogs.  do your dogs pretend to “dig” on your carpets?  They might scratch the couch.  Are they pretty gentle?  You’d probably be ok.

I have leather couches and a dog (and 2 kids).  They have held up surprisingly well.  The couches are now 8 years old, and while I could replace them- I think I will wait till the littlest child is older- it really has little to do with the dog!

I have a 70 pound very rambunctious pitbull. Our leather couches are soft leather and not tight shiny leather and he hasn’t punctured anything. (knocking on wood) he prefers to sleep on blankets on the couch which helps. And they are about 10 years old. Nice hand me down from my parents when DH and I bought our house! Before the dog they held up with some crazy kittens as well.

Side Note. polishing and wiping off leather couches – I SWEAR by plain old yellow can of pledge. It shines them up so nice. Same goes for stainless appliances!

They sell covers for sofas called furniture friends or something like that that are weighted couch covers for leather sofas that are washable specifically for pets 🙂

I have two sets of leather chesterfields.

I have one 130 and one 75 pound labradoodles. they live on them.and no problems, you can wipe up any messes or doggy smells.

i wouldnt have anything else.Make sure if you decide ,to get 100% though and not bonded leather, That doesnt hold up well with dogs.

It actually depends on the couches. When we were in the market for new couches we did a lot of shopping around. We went to lazy boy and asked about prices, hearing they were too pricey for us the salesman took the time to tell us what we should be looking for in a leather couch. Apparently when you look for leather there are a few different kinds. Bonded leather only has to be a certain percentage real leather, I dont remember the exact number but it was really low, so these couches will tear and wear fast. Real leather does not tear. Generally if theyre real leather the company will have the warranty to back the quality. For our even if our dog wrecks them they will fix them, replace whole panels ect.

I have a 55 pound basset and a 45 pound fox hound/beagle mix. I also have leather couches. The fox hound ripped a huge tear in one after jumping up on it so many times. He didn’t even scratch at it, just jumped up in the same place and it tore. I legitimately cried. They are easy to clean, though :/

DH and I have dogs, and will only have leather couches in the living room.  There is another couch made of fabric in another room of the house, and we have it there just for the dogs.  They’ve torn that one up, but the leather one has held up nicely.

I have two dogs, about 60 pounds each. Our leather couch holds up just fine. One dog has extremely long nails, even when trimmed, and she never scratches the couch. There’s also a chihuahua that visits and doesn’t leave any marks. The cats tho….they did a number on that thing lol!

We have a 35 and 40 lb dog and our leather couches have held up well (knock on wood). I do believe ours are all real leather though.
