I have bought a strapless wedding gown and I am starting to have reservations about not having straps, I have always felt uncomfortable in strapless but I just love my dress so I had to get it!! Does anyone have pictures of their dress that they have added straps too?? (also it is a sweatheart dress so I am not sure if straps will work?) Any advice/pictures would be greatly appreciated!

I never liked strapless dresses myself before I got my wedding gown. I remember wearing a straples bridesmaid gown and hating it!
What is it that makes you uncomfortable? Is it the tugging you feel like you have to do all the time? Wedding gowns, if fitted correctly, don’t make you feel like you have to pull them up all the time. They are fitted so they are carried by your core. It’s really nice!
If you are worried about exposure, you can always get a cute, light shrug (there are some beautiful ones on Etsy). Then, you’d have the option of taking it off if you decided you were okay with the dress as is.

I didn’t buy this dress, but here’s an example of what adding straps will do:

Was the lace from that same dress?

I’m making my strapless a one shoulder. It has a soft sweetheart.
Ignore the flower on the shoulder strap not matching the flowers on the dress – she was just using a belt to show me what it would look like. I paid 60 dollars for the extra dress material, and will pay 50 for the alteration. Worth it, for me, to not be tugging up the boobies all night 🙂
and here’s the original sketch (its a Marisa so theres no model photo)

I love these dresses! The straps look great, thanks for the good ideas! I think I will add straps to mine for sure!

@Luckygal5571: I don’t think it was for sample purposes- I think they were just pieces they had floating around that were already cut into cap sleeves for a different dress. They were similar enough to get the basic idea, though, which was fine for the moment, and the lady did say they could order the matching lace for me. Just beware, some places (DB) will give you a really hard time about getting extra fabric because of their copyright issues with the dresses (they’re only allowed, per their contracts with their designers, to do a certain amount of alteration to the dresses, mostly just for size- they can’t make structural changes like adding straps, changing necklines, etc). So ask before you buy if you can.
