@katyrose:   sorta similar.. my setting is very similar but my choice of gold and center stone are different. it’s rose gold with pink sapphires in the channel, side diamonds and a pink sapphire center. I don’t know the size of the sapphire exactly, but the weight was close to .50, so close to the size of a 1/2c maybe. My fingers are like yours, skinny, not sure I’d consider mine long though. I wear a size 5

That ring is very petite and tiny, even a 1 carat would look beautiful and stand out, so your 1.5 will look beautiful.

BTW – we got our ring from Shane Co as well … love that store. They’re wonderful people to work with. My fiance actually fell in love with a rose gold band for himself, it’s an amazing color. Was very surprised he chose it, happy now our rings will match.

@katyrose:  I did!  (waives arms frantically)  Did someone there tell you its 2.5mm?  Im pretty sure its 1.5mm.  It will look amazing with a larger stone.

Here it is on my huge, size 8 finger, with a .70 center.

And with the matching band.

(I say ‘did’ because we have since upgraded)

@katyrose:  I have been in the ShaneCo store probably 100 times (ha, I know, its crazy) and I dont remember seeing a .25 ctw pave ring in a 2.5mm wide setting, I think it would look funny.  Anyway, I LOVED this ring.  I had the cathedral setting in white gold, but it looks the same from the top.  My husband and I picked it together and I NEVER had issues with it.  Its not as delicate as it seems, and in platinum it should be even better!  We upgraded because we knew from the time we picked out my ring that we would eventually upgrade.  It wasnt so much the setting my husband wanted bigger, it was the center stone.  But when it came time to do it (2 years into our marriage, for financial reasons mostly) he liked the halo and so did I, so we upgraded both.  My ring now is what I would have picked had we had the money to begin with.  I did get to keep my wedding band though, so that was cool!

I’m not sure if this post is still active but I thought I’d show you my ring. I have a very similar Shane Co ring. Mine is the petite pave 14k white gold. It is very thin, but sturdy. I chose only 4 prongs and love it. My center stone is .91 round brillant but looks much larger because of the thin band. I also have the matching wedding band but in rose gold. I’ve also never had any issues with the diamonds on the sides and I work in a hospital putting gloves on and off all day. Its a beautiful ring and shane co has been amazing. I apologize for the large photos.

izzer2036:  can you give me the specs of your diamond? It looks beautiful in the natural sunlight! Does your diamond have fluorescence?

engcasey1113:  no fluorescence at all! It’s a .91 round brilliant, VS2, G color, excellent cut, polish, and symmetry. It’s from blue nile. We got a fabulous deal on it and I can’t say enough good things about blue nile. The first diamond we ordered from BN had “faint” flouresence and the Polish wasn’t excellent and I hated it. So we returned it and ordered a second one that was slightly smaller but with better specs. I couldn’t tell the difference in size at all and the color and sparkle were noticably different.

izzer2036:  oh your specs are very similar to mine except that I got the diamond from shane co also. I ask because I just got the exact same setting fron Shane co and I’m debating like crazy everyday. I absolutely love how it looks, but I’m wondering if the diamond poking on the side will bother me in the long run or if the ring will spin a lot. I was originally into channel sets so the difference is pretty big. How is the wear like since you’ve had it for a while? It is prety practical for you?

I absolutely love it. I had similar concerns with the pave diamonds on the sides but i don’t notice them at all and I haven’t had any issues with them falling out. I was concerned the ring would spin, but after I had it resized properly it doesn’t spin at all. In fact, I put gloves on all day as a nurse and sometimes I have to manually spin it to the side so my gloves fit better. I was concerned that the thin band would feel cheap or insecure, but i get hundreds of compliments on how danity it is and I don’t feel like the diamond is insecure at all. When he proposed the diamond was in 6 pronges, and I hated the star-look. with 4 pronges I don’t notice any change in diamond stability at all.
