My SO is having a major gout flareup in his knee. It’s enormous, he can’t walk or sleep. I took him to the doctor on Friday and he prescribed something with OxyContin in it – it’s not making any difference though. I hate to see him like this, he is running on empty and the fact that he hasn’t slept in days really concerns me. He is just 4 days away from a rheumatologist appointment he booked 4 months ago, which is an hour and a half drive away, so that’s going to be torture for him 🙁 he is on a gout preventer but has only been on it for 2 weeks. I made the huge mistake of buying him tomatoes, which we know now can trigger an attack. He’s also taking anti-inflammatory medication regularly, but his knee is still huge and incredibly painful.
Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions – he’ll try anything. I’ve bought a few creams for arthritis, they don’t seem to be making any difference.
