Okay, so I caved under pressure from my Mom and bought ‘the’ dress. Has anyone else had that problem?! After sleeping on it for a night, I realized why I should have ‘slept on it’…I paid $1200 CDN on the spot (+ I had to sign a no-refunds contract) for a sample dress off the rack (regularly $1800). Dress was sold as a La Sposa ‘Martinica’ (yes, that’s spelled correctly, not to be confused with the Martinique). Upon further Googling, I can only find this dress on a few knockoff-dress websites and a website that may or may not be the Romanian version of the La Sposa website.
Help! Does anyone know how to tell if the dress I paid for is a legitimate La Sposa dress? I’ve checked the 2010 and 2009 collections, so I assume the desing is from the 2008 collection (Thanks for mentioning that, Sales Lady!).
I just want to make sure I wasn’t *ahem* encouraged to buy a $100 knockoff for $1200. I would sleep better if someone could set me straight on how to tell real or fake. Sorry for venting 🙂 Thanks in advance for any advice!

Can you try calling La Sposa and give them the style number and see what they say? They may help you get a refund from the sales company, if it was a knock off.
But if you love the dress than whats it matter! 🙂

I would call like Miss Sardine suggested to make sure, but as long as you bought it from a reputable bridal salon I highly doubt it’s a knock off. I’m sure it’s just from an older line that isn’t on the website anymore.

It’s likely just a dress from an older collection. I do think you might have gotten overcharged, though, as lots, and lots of girls probably tried that on. Used gowns see far less wear than most samples, and lost about half their value afte rthe wedding day (just to give you an idea)

I found a classified from a private seller from Switzerland, and she says it is from the 2008 collection

Bright side: your dress will likely seem much more unique, since it’s not actively available for purchas anymore. La Sposa are stunning! 🙂
