Does anyone know of any 2 piece bridal gowns?

There used to be tons of 2 piece dresses out there, but not so much anymore. You would have to order a mermaid dress and have a second skirt made.

I’m looking for the same thing right now and it’s tough! I know BHLDN offers separates for you to mix and match. Other than that, I’ve been looking on ebay and etsy. My cousin did a two piece a couple years ago, she had a long plain skirt and a textured top. Getting two separates to match and look like a “complete” dress is a challenge. Good luck, would love to see your final look!

My Fiance’s cousin wore a two piece last month. It was a corset top with a mermaid type skirt. The dress was a Primrose & Lilli gown.

I had a custom corset made and made my own skirt. it turned out great! I had my corset altered after the wedding before our honeymoon photo session in Paris. (I also changed the waistband of the skirt a bit so that it would rest just the slightest bit higher…it stretched a bit on the wedding day and wound up looking a little funny in a few pictures, but the one below is from early in the day.) wedding day photo isn’t super flattering, but it shows the design details pretty well!

I highly recommend custom; mine wasn’t uncomfortable…it was super tight, of course, but it wasn’t painful. check lucy’s corsetry for corsetiers in your area.

Watters makes one that I know of that is sold at BHLDN and Nordstroms. Carina corset, Ahsan skirt, Amina skirt.

Ann Taylor also has a couple.

I also loved the Rivini Martinique gown which has a short lace sheath under a fuller hi-lo skirt that you can remove.

Finally, Berta Bridal makes two pieces where the top is a bodysuit, but they were always insanely out of my budget. But for any lucky brides that have the budget, I thought they were the most beautiful two pieces available right now.

nadnuk: good call. I tried on the watters carina + ahsan combo…it was gorgeous!

(but I reaaaaaaally wanted swiss dot and some bust detailing. (it was also way more expensive than I wound up spending on my custom stuff.))

The Hayley Paige Fall 2014 collection “Love Poets Society” featured two short dresses that could be mix-and-matched with three different over skirts (I think there were originally three mini dresses in the runway show, but it looks like only two went into main production). The dress styles as Conrad and Byron, while the sparkly dress that seems less available was Langston.

Jenlmcg: I wore the Watters Milada skirt, but didn’t like any of the Watters tops – I wore this top with it: http://www.della-giovanna.com/fall2014/separates/chase-corset/

It’s definitely tricky if you get separates from two different designers, because you have to imagine it together, but I was really happy with the result! I don’t have pro photos back yet, so this isn’t the best picture of it, but this was the result. I had the train removed from the skirt (I didn’t want a bustle), and changed the neckline of the top.

Haily Paige does a good amount of that. Also BHLDN has some cool options for gorgeous sheath gowns but you can guy an option tulle skirt to go over the gown. I think those are lovely! Otherwise I’ve seen pencil knee length dresses that have detachable tulle skirts as well from various designers.

BHLDN Ava and ELsa gowns are a couple of GORGEOUS options.

Jenlmcg:

flummoxed

I know some people posted this already but I thought I would in more detail: Watters and Wtoo (same company different collections) are the only ones I know who really still do two pieces.

For Wtoo they have two corsets: one is called ‘Marlow’ and the other is ‘Primrose’ – they have two variations of skirts you can purchase

The ‘Primrose’ Corset

There is the ‘Bevan’ Skirt

http://watters.com/Product/WtooBrides/18711/

And the ‘Lilli’ Skirt

http://watters.com/Product/WtooBrides/17258/

Watters has variations of corsets and skirts as well

‘Chara’ Corset

‘Carina’ Corset

http://watters.com/Product/WattersBrides/5018B/

‘Amina’ Skirt

http://watters.com/Product/WattersBrides/5082B/

‘Lucia’ Skirt

http://watters.com/Product/WattersBrides/1065B/

‘Ahsan’ Skirt (comes in different colors)

‘Alvera’ Skirt

‘Sabrina’ Skirt

So many variations are possible between the Watters and Wtoo corsets/skirts

Mori Lee has a dress in their new Spring 2015 collection that has a removeable over skirt
