I've been doing some Googling to look for the source of her famous quote (that it's ok to tip less than 10% b/c of the recession).

I haven't found the source of the quote... just statements by her spokesperson that Oprah never said that:

She did have the Waiter Rant guy on to talk about how tipping less than 15% was rude:

I searched Waiter Rant's site, and couldn't find any quotes about it - and I figure he'd be the kinda guy who would have something to say about that. 

Has anyone found a clip or article where Oprah said that it's ok to tip less because of the recession?  I thought it might have happened recently, but I saw a similar rumor flared up in 2006 and we weren't in a recession then afaik.

If Oprah sad that tipping less than 10% is ok, then that's definitely wrong!  But I haven't had much luck finding the original clip or article where she said that...  so thought I'd ask if anyone has a link to the quote where she said this!
