allyfally:  I don’t, but I know lots of people that do.  I’m curious to see if other bees have recipes to share

allyfally:  I make my own high efficiency detergent. I use borax super washing soda plus my liquid detergent, but instead if a capful I use a tablespoon ful. One of those jugs  lasted me over a year!

allyfally:   This is the recipe I usually follow when I make my laundry soap   I think it works just as good as regular detergent to get your clothes clean.  I usually have the stuff on hand to make my own when I run out of my usual detergent.

A couple of Cons– in my opinion– the Zote fades your clothes a little faster than regular detergent & I don’t really care for the smell, it has a pretty strong citronella smell and I don’t like that scent.  I usually throw some vinegar in too at the end, so its not noticable when they are dry but it isn’t the strong yummy laundry fragrance most people are used too.

Once I tried making the liquid DIY laudry detergent and that I’m not sure if I did something wrong or it was too cold (winter) but that was a big fail.  It separated and congealed into one big mass in the jug and I couldn’t get it out.  I always make the powder one now.

Oh and make sure you get washing soda- not baking soda.  2 totally different things.  Although you can make your own washing soda by baking baking soda in the oven.  I tried it once, I guess it worked,  but I’d rather just buy the washing soda.

allyfally:  Yeah I wouldn’t worry about the smell because the scent crystals will make it smell great.  I’ve only tried the basic version myself.  There are also different brands of soap besides Zote like Fels Naptha and Ivory, I’m not sure what the Fels smells like.  The Zote isn’t that bad, thats the one I use, but I just wanted to mention it does have an interesting/unique smell to it.  And its not noticable after they are dry either.   Good luck!
