I don’t have Facebook, and I like not having it. But lately I feel like I am missing out, for example my sons teacher has a Facebook page for her classroom and she says she will put important updates on there…anyone else not have it and feel this way?

@Missloveknot: I don’t have it, and yes sometimes. Everything is connected to FB it seems like, but it’s so annoying with so much childish crap and drama that I’m glad I do not have it.

Likewise. I see so many threads on here about family/in-law/wedding party drama, and frequently part of the issue hinges on how X posted a comment or a picture on Facebook and Y’s feelings got hurt/found out about something/took it the wrong way, etc. – every time I see that, I think, “I’m so glad I don’t have to deal with any of that!”
There are tradeoffs. However, I think my privacy and peace of mind are well worth it.

No Facebook here either. I don’t feel like I’m missing anything, but my friends all seem to think I am. I hear of so much drama and junk that happens on it – I just would rather not be involved. I guess it distances me a bit from everyone, but I can see me getting caught up in stuff that just doesn’t matter.
My FH has Facebook – if there’s something I need to see on it, he just pulls it up for me.

Just the other day I was talking to an old friend from high school and she was giving me updates on people that neither one of us were friends with in high school, or even talked to. I was like wait, who are these people! Not real friends, just Facebook friends I guess. I definitely feel like I avoid the drama by not having it.

@Missloveknot: Yes, that too! There are a lot of people that I really just don’t want to have to expend precious time and energy dealing with, and by not being on Facebook, I don’t have to, and I don’t have to justify it or risk insulting them by blocking/defriending/declining a friend request, etc.
