We just signed up and linked it to our accounts yesterday and it seems very cool! I like that it itemizes purchases and we can see where we may be over-spending. We’re really trying to save for the wedding and hopefully eventually a house and we are hoping it will help us budget better.
Does anyone else use Mint or other free budgeting tools? Do you think they actually help keep you on track with your spending?

We use mint. I do really like it because it pulls info from all of our accounts and makes it way easy to keep track of. I think if you’re inclined to budget, it is the easiest way to do it (but if you’re not inclined to budget it probably wont help lol)

I loves me some mint! It really helps seeing where everything is at. Checking, savings, all of our credit cards, my car loan, and our wedding savings, all in one fell swoop 😀 It’s kind of remarkable. And my favorite part? It’s on my iPhone, too!

I’ve been using Mint for maybe two years now? Or just one year? Either way, I LOVE it! It helped me budget quite a bit. CorgiTales is right though, if you’re not inclined to budget in the first place, it can’t help. 🙂

Yup, sure do! I’m inclined to budget, but it helps me know what I’m doing. For instance, if I go over-budget on groceries one month, I’ll usually look back and find I was under budget the previous month, so no wonder. Whereas without that tracking, I would have just scolded myself about it, you know?
The only thing I don’t like is that I feel like the ways it has you “save up” for things doesn’t really make sense. It’ll have you “budgeted” for a certain amount per month for, say, a dentist appointment every six months, but that money is still in your account exactly like it would have been, so it doesn’t quite make sense to me. Otherwise, I think it’s really helpful.
