Take your dog to the vet and revolution. Its only 60 dollars. Over the counter stuff can be harmful to your pet.

Dawn soap will kill them. Our vet told us to use it on our kitten when he was still too small for the flea treatments.

DiamondnLovey:  I second Aquamarine.  My one cat has a serious recurring flea issue (I think it’s due to where we live).  Revolution has been amazing in keeping them at bay!  Even if she has some on her, they’re dead or dying.  They can’t reproduce anymore.  I highly recommend.  That, and a Dawn dish soap bath.  Good luck!!

DiamondnLovey:  Dawn dish soap! It is gentle enough for pets but it kills and drowns the fleas. Just make sure you soap the neck first, so the ones on the body don’t migrate to your dog’s face.

Dawn dish soap and baby shampoo for the pet.  I would treat your house with a fumegator, and my favorite boric acid around the baseboards in your home.  Bugs go bye bye.

Dawn dish soap on the dog, sprinkle your carpets with salt to kill the ones hiding there and vacuum. You should be salting and vacuuming daily until they’re gone.

You can also get a cheap flea collar and put it in the vacuum to kill any live ones you suck up

olive oil works wonders. i have a blue nose/americcan pitt mix and his skin is really sensitive, go figure, tough dog with sensitive skin. anyways we use this oatmeal shampoo that kills fleas and tick and when we notice that he is biting we put olive oil onhim. he has a tendancy to bite where his tail meets his back and he goes to town so he sctaches so hard that he makes himself bleed and chomps off all of his hair. well one day we decided to put the olive oil on him after it worked miracles for my daughters lice and what do you know..his hair started coming back he wasnt bleeding and we didnt hear him bite at himself. so now we put some on him in that area everytime he gets a shower.

You need to get an actual flea treatment like Revolution, as they can live in your house for up to three months. The Dawn might kill the ones on your dog, but only an actual treatment is going to stop them from coming back. Sorry, but it’s true.

Most vets will let you do payment plans, etc if you don’t have the cash all at once…
