I'd like to benchmark myself against the SO's of the Weddingbee community.

Men have their own pet peeves (why do women put loose strands of their hair on the shower wall??), but I think they pale in comparison to the sort of thing that men do on a regular basis.  So I made a list of 10 endearing little habits below... it's a special poll, so you can vote on multiple items.

Please vote whether your SO is male or female!  Only one of the questions has a gender skew (the first one).

How did your SO do... anyone get a 10/10?

I'm definitely the WORST about not putting the toothpaste cap back on... and I'm not much help with bed making.  It's the socks in the living room that make me most crazy!  I've always wondered why my fiance does that!

My SO is so, so good about most of these things. Actually, he's better than I am!

On the subject of ironing -- he actually irons his work clothes every morning, while I have ironed exactly one time in my life. I suppose he's guilty of the clothes on the bedroom floor, or in other random places, once in a while...but so am I. :-/

*For the record, the whole "loose hairs all over the shower curtain/in the shower drain" thing drives me nuts.  I've lived with female roommates who didn't clean out the drain after showering (something I was raised to do) and it's so gross when I've had to clean up someone else's hair! Ew ew!

Love this survey, especially the bonus points questions!  He argues that the toilet seat stays up since I leave it down, lol.  He's really good at leaving clothes actually on the bathroom floor and in random corners...he says it's because he doesn't want to wake me up to put them in the hamper in our room, although he'll wake me up to say goodbye, lol.  His socks AND shoes often end up in the middle of the family room floor, too.  Oh and the dishes, we are both guilty of all that and take turns picking up after each other.  The hair thing, I actually try to prevent them from going down the drain so always take them out after I'm done showering, although, hairs still end up everywhere around the house...his favorite thing!

Wow, 6/10. Not too shabby! Although, Mr. Powder Puff is VERY sporadic about the toilet seat thing. Sometimes he leaves it up, sometimes he puts it back down, depending on which way the wind is blowing that day.

I think it's HILARIOUS that you put the sock in the living room thing on there. The mister does that all the time and it drives me crazy!

Only 1, and only sort of.  The bed thing -- but I'm usually the last one out of bed, and I don't make the bed either, so you can't really put that one on him.

We did have a bit of conflict about the toilet seat thing when I first moved in.  It really, really drove me crazy, and he just didn't see the big deal.  But then he read an article that mentioned how far bacteria can fly when you flush an open toilet, mentally calculated the distance to our toothbrushes on the bathroom counter ... and has closed it before flushing ever since!!

Wow... I never thought about this, but my SO (a man) doesn't do ANY of those things.  I do a couple (apparently I'm the messy one in the relationship).

Mr. Bee, maybe you could add an option for "none of the above"?  I tried to vote but it wouldn't let me since I hadn't selected anything.

Mr Peng happily made "None of the above"... but if this poll were for ME instead, I think I'd check every one except leave the toilet seat up and the iron on.

Ahhahaha... I totally put my hair on the wall... so it doesn't go down the drain!  You should thank your wife for this.

Holy shit.  I just showed this poll to Mr. Peng and thanked my lucky stars.  So far, I'm the only "none of the above" vote!

Lol, yeah you probably should Pengy!  I know what you mean about the hair, I do the same thing cuz if you let it get in the drain it's not pretty.  They think we are gross, but it's really that we are smart!

5/10. I think I have more bad habits than him though. The best thing about him is that he will do the laundry without me asking AND he will fold the clothes too without me asking/prompting him. AND he never ever leaves the toilet seat up. =o)

I feel kind of bad...I'm guilty of more items on that list than FI is!!!  I'm so lucky he ALWAYS puts the seat down (he's very conscious of that one!)

LOL about the hair on the shower walls Mr. Bee!!  We don't put it there.  It's drawn there by the same magical force that drags dry hair behind the toilet....Does he leave the toilet seat up? : wedding Icon Biggrin

That was fun!  My hubby earned lots of bonus points and scored 6/10.  He's good about the toilet seat because we have a cat that will drink of the bowl and my hubby thinks that is gross.

My FI is actually a very good egg and neater than I am. His only faults are occasionally leaving the toilet seat up and sometimes not cleaning up after he cooks. Other than that, he is a gem!

These new boards are so snazzy.

My husband's most annoying habit *used to be* leaving wet towels on the floor... WTF? If you hang your towel up,  you don't have to wash it nearly as often.  I trained him out of this, but not before earning the nickname "towel-iban."

My hubby is so horrible about leaving full or half filled cups of tea everywhere and he knows it bothers me so much. He also forgets to close doors behind him which makes it a playground for our 18 month old son who loves playing with the toilet plunger....yuck. I don't know who is worse him or my 13 year old daughter who leaves plates and cups in her room also. It's amazing that I can find a cup to drink out of sometimes.

I guess I'm lucky. My man doesnt do any of these things, 'cept for the half-empty cups one. I've likened him to the little girl in the movie Signs. (If we have aliens attack and they are intolerant of water, we'll be OK!) (And, for the record, he does pick them up. Not always right away, but he does do it when he's tidying. :)

Mr. Bee, I totally do the hair on the wall thing and it's to keep it from going down the drain and clogging it.  Sometimes I forget to remove it and that's when it's gross, I agree..

My hubs only did 2/10 and I think I could have done 5/10 of them, oops.  :)

We always put the toilet lid down because we don't want our cats drinking out of the toilet.

When we moved in together we made a bargain.  If he puts the toilet seat down he can leave his jeans on the floor.  He doesn't always stick to it, but he's generally pretty good.

I'm the one that leaves my clothes on the bathroom floor, while he leaves his clothes under the bed.  I think his habit is worse because sometimes I forget that they are under the bed on wash day.

Wow! My FI and I both get high scores on this one.. i guess we're messy Does he leave the toilet seat up? : wedding Icon Wink

He never ever leaves the toilet seat up though.. I've come home from work to find the toilet seat up and known that he must have had a friend over.  Actually, I get in trouble because I leave the toilet lid up (all of the time)  and then the dogs drink out of the commode.. gross!  He just keeps getting on me for it and I keep forgetting.  So I guess I'm technically worse than him.. yikes!

My FI got a 7/10. These are all his weaknesses, I swear he isn't a slob! He has broken the bad habit with the toilet seat though. When we were in college, every time he left it up, he gave me a dollar towards our wedding fund!

6/10.  and by far the worse is clothes on the floor.  We had a discussion when we lived in the dorms together about his horrible habit of throwing clothes on the chair (clean or dirty) it drives me nuts, still!  I think when we live together I will be following him around when he undresses to put things away!

I'm so embarrassed!  I had to check none of the above for him, but I would have had to check almost all of them for myself!  And add on the hair on the wall so it doesn't go down the drain thing....  By the way, I'm so stoked to learn I'm not the only one who does that!  :-D

Funny enough, as a guy, when I come over to my so's place, I always leave the toilet seat down.  Its practice from my dog who used to try to either jump into the toilet bowl or drink from it with that blue cleaner stuff.  As far as her bad habits which drive me crazy include putting tennis shoes on the table.  It completely grosses me out with the thought those shoes have been in a public bathroom somewhere.

Another intesesting tidbit is the degreee on how often she actually picks up her clothes off the floor is directly contingent on whether she had a bad week at work or a good week.  If she had a good week...the place is pretty spotless.  Bad week with the threat of layoffs and bad management from her manager... a mess..

I've never heard of hair sticking on the wall either.  Thats a new one in my books..  we do have to pour super drain-o every once in a while to clear out the hairballs in the drain.

Yeah... my DH has OCD tendencies so he does not do many of these. He scored a 2/10. I think I would score worse. lol

DH is really good about those things minus the socks in the living room! And leaving clothes on our floor...but I"m guilty of that too! He used the leave the toliet seat up when we were first together, however I almost fell in twice when I got up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night....so I impressed upon him the need to put the seat down real fast :-P
