Sperm can survive in the body for 72+ hours, so you can have sex 3 days before ovulation and successfully conceive. Some schools of thought say that this increases your chance of having a girl because genetic-female sperm survive longer.

In other words, no you do not need to have sex that day. I don’t think there’s an ideal date or time. In my thinking, the more you do the deed, while still giving him a 24-hour or so window to replenish sperm count, the higher your chances.

@MissOct2013:  I really don’t think it matters. Never heard this before. Plus, TTC is hard enough without the pressure of morning bd. I couldn’t do it pre9am!!!

@MissOct2013:  I think the thought process behind it is to have the sperm already there in case you ovulate during the day and the window closes before the evening.  That’s just my opinion!  I don’t think you can ever really know!
