It doesn't have to match, but imo, it would look more pulled together if the colors of the candy were similar to your colors and the decor of your venue.
I think it should sort of match, or else it will just look like a candy store! My colors are purple and black so it has been a little hard to find matching candies but I think that as long as most of your candy follow your theme then you can throw a few different colors in there
I think you should pick whatever candies you want, regardless of color. We're getting our favorites and don't mind if it looks like a candy store, but in the end it's up to you.
my colors are black, white and red.... but my candy is black, white, red, & skittles! my fiance had to have the skittles and i couldn't find inexpensive ones in my colors!
Keep in mind that if you have certain colors you are trying to match, it will be more expensive than if you have a random mixture and don't pay attention to colors. Most people prefer the selections that random mixtures have because the candies have wider appeal in that case.
We're having a candy buffet but using only wrapped candy. We are placing the candy in flower pots that match our colors. So even though the candy doesn't match the containers do
It doesn't have to match exactly but I think it looks really nice when there are matching colors, or at least similar feeling colors
I think it would be cute if it matches, but if you can't find decent stuff, then who cares! If I was your guest, I would still eat it as long as it tastes good! :)
I'd say do a mixture of wrapped/yummy/more cost-friendly candy and splurge on some candies in your colors to 'tie it in'. I know M&M's and Jelly Belly's come in custom colors (and for JB's, flavors!) and are really yummy. But if I were putting together a candy buffet there would definitely be Reese's Pieces.
However, I've seen rainbow candy buffets that turned out beautifully.
I was also going through this dilemma but I fugured that having candy in similar colors was the best choice for me. My colors are black, white, and purple.

We are having a candy buffet at the wedding and I was wondering if the candy should match my wedding colors?? Would it look better and more pulled together if all my candy followed our color scheme? (colors are blush pink, taupe, chocolate, ivory/cream, and silver)
