@mmcdebbie:  I think it looks big!  I would never guess it smaller than 1.5 carats!  I love it too, btw!

    Looks substantial to me.

I have a 1.33 cushion and I don’t think it faces up too small. I think round brilliants face up the largest, but either way it’s a gorgeous stone.

I have a yellow diamond too.

I looks to face up about right from my (pretty basic) knowledge of cushions.

@mmcdebbie:  I voted wrong…meant to say looks even bigger than 1.5 carats! (It’s gorgeous, BTW!)  I have a 1.81 cushion and sometimes I stare at it and say, “Is it really 1.8? It should look bigger than this.”  (Then I feel like a terrible greedy awful monster because I know how much my FI paid for it). Maybe you and I are just skewed because so many ladies have larger stones these days?

actually I think it looks pretty true to size and maybe even a little larger.  It is true that cushion cuts face up a little smaller, but I think the more modern cuts are a little closer to size than the antique cuts.  Mine is 1.01and I think it faces up a little smaller, but I have had people ask me if it was over a carat… so who knows… beautiful diamond by the way.

Maybe the people saying they’re surprised are not familiar with cushions? DH and I looked at a lot of cushions when we were picking out my ring and yours definitely faces up “right” to me.

It def looks like a 1.5! I wear a size 4 and always thought a 1ct was pretty large but I recently got a stand in 1 ct halo ring and it actually doesn’t look very Big! I would say yours looks like a 1.5 if not larger!

Also the most common shape is round which faces up largest.. not many people see cushion cut often or have ever seen it so they are probably just not familiar with the shape

Sooooo pretty! Can we (I) see more pictures just for fun? : )

As far as size, I think it definitely looks like a 1.5 carat.

I have a 1.65 cushion and it faces up about the same as a 1.25ct round, but I love it anyway 🙂 I dont think yours looks small but I do empathize with the plight of the cushion! Its a beautiful “chunky” cut! I’m a ring size 5.75- I think people assume I’m lying about the size when they ask because there are a few girls at work with 1ct rounds and they look sort of similar.

@mmcdebbie:  I have a cushion too, and I have SUCH a hard time telling the size of them because they come in such different measurements and length to width ratios! I think I would guess yours is over 1.4, definitely 1.5ish. Mine is a 1.11 on a size 7 finger, and it’s a deeper cushion than most bc it’s rectangular:

It look s bigger than 1.5 to me… I have a cushion cut 9citrine, not diamond) that’s equivalent to about 2.5ct and it looks to be a similar size to the naked eye.
