We are having a 4pm wedding and a cocktail hour at 4:30 and ending about 5:15 for our entrance/toasts/what not. For my wedding website, I’m putting the times and am not sure when to put the reception starts. Would you say 4:30 or 5:15?
Sorry I’m so needy! I try on my own and if Google doesn’t answer my question, to the bees I go 🙂

In my area & social circle, cocktail hour is generally what the couple hosts for their guests as they finish up post-ceremony photos. The reception starts when the bride & groom make their entrance.
I have seen posts before about the couple not wanting to ‘miss cocktail hour’ so they do a first look & get pics out of the way prior to the ceremony, but that isn’t something I’ve ever really seen in real life.
On your website, just list the three events and their start times- ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, in that order.

You could list the times of all three, or you could say:
Ceremony at 4PM
Cocktail Hour to follow
Reception at 5:15PM

Skittles131: +1 with DaneLady. They are 3 separate events so I would list them separately. That’s how I have my website listing them too.

We have some in between ours (an hour and a half), which seems to be usual here (Canada)
Wedding Party announced at 7
Dinner and dance to follow.

I guess technically the reception starts at 5:15 but as far as I’m concerned when I go to a wedding, cocktail hour is part of the reception/event.

Thanks bees for the input so far! I’m also debating not even splitting them up on the website, just saying ceremony at 4pm. I’m worried some people may skip the ceremony and go to the reception. Thoughts?
