I’ve written before about being a 2 dress bride (falling prey to ‘dress regret’ like so many others). So the dress I fell in love with is taffeta. I’ve started noticing people mention that they think taffeta looks cheap the way it shines. (I never noticed it at David’s, but as another bride mentioned you can’t trust the DB mirrors because of the fairy wedding dust that magically coats the mirrors ^_^).
So let’s post pics of our Taffeta wedding dresses to show how they rock!
(I would ESPECIALLY appreciate married ladies posting pics from their weddings to see how it looks in different light like a big church or hall, not just in dressing rooms.)
Lol, can you tell that the Bridesmaid or Best Man who took this is super short?? She’s in her late 20’s but only 4′ 9″.

Hey, I just saw this is a duplicate post. Sorry!
Feel free to post again, or let’s get some new ladies in on the action!

I think it depends on the quality of the tafetta. Personally, I love a good, thick silk tafetta because it has a beautiful ability to hold shape and I love the noise it makes when you walk. Tafetta does have a bit of a shine, but so do loads of other bridal fabrics(stain, silk). If you love your dress, I say keep it!

First of all you look beautiful in that dress! Second, I loved my taffeta dress and I love posting pictures of my dress so I’ll post one here but also here’s a link to my recaps with a ton more. It has pictures outside at the ceremony and inside at the reception.

I specifically changed my dress to have it made out of taffeta because I love the way it looks.

I love taffeta as well, and it’s soooo much lighter than satin. Don’t get me wrong, there are satin and lace dresses I love as well but there is nothing I would change about my dress. It’s a little wrinkled, but it’s been stored in a bag for over 6 months. I can’t wait to wear her!

@ItsPronounced_ABear: I personally think satin shines more, which is why I didn’t want it. Here’s me in a taffeta dress, it felt great but I didn’t like the shape of the dress on me.

I absolutely loved my dress AND the taffeta! It wasn’t super shiny like satin (which I don’t like), but it just had this really nice glow to it that was so pretty. Here are some pics:

I don’t have photos of me in my dress, but I just wanted to say that I think taffeta looks beautiful. It’s like a softer version of raw silk. Mind you, I’m sure not all taffeta is created equal, but I really like it!

My actual dress is satin, but my bm’s dresses are taffeta and I love the fabric. I have seen some awful versions of taffeta that are incredibly stiff, but it can also be soft and gorgeous.

My store didn’t allow pictures, but my dress is tafetta as well. I originally wanted satin, but the lightweight of tafetta sold me (considering I’m having an outside wedding). I just fell in love with this dress when I put it in.

@waffle: Thanks! This is the second dress, so I’m definitely keeping it! The first dress was actually lace, and I did like it, but I ignored my gut on some aspects that were nagging me about it, This dress gets rid of them all and makes me feel thin and beautiful. 🙂
@CatyLady: For a looong time I had my heart set on an off-the-shoulder dress, so I was actually in love with this one (that you’re wearing) for awhile, but when I tried it on it made me look like I had huge shoulders and NO hips. I’ve seen it look fabulous on other brides though! Just a fun fact. 🙂

I wore a taffeta dress & loved it – esp since my wedding was outside, and the taffeta breathes well, so I wasn’t too hot 🙂

i dont think so but then again i may be biased lol

this is a close up of the material. i hardly notice a shine at all, it only shows up in the pictures where people used a really harsh flash.
i would have never chosen a different fabric. i love mine.
sorry, i know these are pretty horrible pictures of my dress but i couldn’t seen to find a great one that truly showed the detail of the fabric. hope this helps!
