Does the MOH have to wear a slightly different dress?

    My question is ...

Does she have to look different - the both of the bridesmaid dresses I am looking at do not have a small detail that could be done slightly differently ...

Mine is going to wear the same dress as the other girls.  I think it's your choice.  :-)  You could do a slightly larger or different bouquet for her if you like.

My MOH and bridesmaid (so two girls total) will be wearing the same dresses.  If you wanted something different between the MOH and other bridesmaid, what about a different bouquet?

My Maid of Honor and Matron of Honor will wear the same dress as my BMs but I may give them a larger bouquet.

You totally don't have to. In fact, I didn't even realize anybody did that until I started looking at wedding blogs/weddingbee! At all the weddings I've been to (including one where I was the MOH) all the bridesmaids and maid of honor were dressed alike. I think its completely up to you!

Its YOUR wedding. Don't stress about it. Do whatever you like :-)

I felt that I HAD to have a wedding cake even though I didn't really want one, and I felt that the money could be better spent somewhere else. In the end, we didn't have a cake and I don't regret it at all. Tradition is just that-tradition. I think what makes planning your wedding so special is that you can make it uniquely yours.

It's totally up to you. Usually it's just to denote who the MOH is in the lineup. But really it doesn't matter. I've seen it done both ways equally beautifully.

definately not! I have been to quite a few weddings where all the dresses were the same...one of the weddings i went to they changed the color of her sash...and the other they changed the color of her bouquet. a very subtle difference! and like others have said...its your wedding!! do whatever you want to! :)

My BMs are all wearing the same dress.  I actually haven't even decided who my MOH will be.

Sash, bouquet, jewelry.......you can choose what is different if ANYTHING!  All of the weddings I have ever stood up in, only one had a diff MOH dress from the bridesmaids.

    It's YOUR day!!!!!  :)

Thanks Ladies ~ I too, didn't realize that MOHs often wear different dresses and when I first read that I kept thinking ... I am having a hard enough time finding one dress let alone two!

@Stephanie -- All of my girls wore completely different dresses.  They were from all over the country (2 in Texas, 1 in Indiana, & 1 in Pittsburgh), so, I told them to go out and find either a black or navy blue cocktail dress.  Even though they were all different they all went really well together.  I think the dress thing is up to you.  It's your wedding do whatever you want.

I agree with everyone else.  I've been in a wedding where she had the MOHs wear long dresses, and everyone else short dresses, but all the same style.  I've also been in weddings where we all dress exactly the same.  Personally, all my girls are wearing 4 different styles of dresses (all in same color and material), their own choice of shoes in bright pink and their own accessories.

It is your choice!  I have seen some weddings where the MOH did wear a different dress.  In my wedding they will all be wearing the same dress.

I agree, the dresses do not have to be the same. My ladies will all be wearing the same dress and they will also have the same bouquet. Instead of bridesmaids, I am having a Matron of Honor and a Lady of Honor. I may change the Matron to Lady though because I am not fond of the term Matron.

Not unless you want to. I've never been to a wedding where the MOH was set apart in any way, be it a different dress or bouquet or whatever. It's totally up to you.

You don't have to do it that way. I got my MOH a Champaigne dress instead of wine because she thought she looked better in that color. = )

My MOH is going to wear a sash that is the same color as my dress. All the other BM's will be wearing sashes that match the colors of their dresses.
