I bought my fiance a ring for his birthday 7 years ago (it was the first year that we were dating). It also has our names engraved inside. He HATES wearing jewellery, especially rings, but has told me that he really likes wearing the ring I got him. He told me that he would prefer using that ring I gave him as a wedding band because he likes it anyways and it will save money. Is this fine to do or does the ring have to be a new ring specifically bought for that reason (wedding band)? The ring I got him kind of looks like a wedding band and I have seen some guys wear similar styles before (I don’t think it was in the wedding band section of the store though, I can’t remember). I don’t mind getting him a new one of course. He has said though that he doesn’t think he will ever wear 2 rings at once. What are your thoughts on this? What should I do? Thanks.

@honeybeexo: I think wearing it as a wedding band is so sweet! It has so much history 🙂

If he already likes it, there’s half the battle! Haha, I would just have him use that for his wedding band. I would assume that since it’s already a present you bought him, 7 years ago, it’s pretty good quality. I would only really be concerned about longevity/quality so he is able to wear it for the rest of his life. 🙂

If he likes it, I don’t see why not.

Nothing wrong with it at all.

my wedding band is a gift my husband bought me for our first Christmas. I didn’t want anything else.

Oh, I’m so glad someone started this thread!
I’ve been wondering if it’s weird to want the ring my FI bought me on our first trip to be my wedding band.

I think it’s definitely ok to do WHATEVER YOU WANT 🙂
And I love the idea of wearing a ring that already has emotional significance.

honeybeexo: I think the sentimentality of it definitely means it should be the wedding band!! Plus 7 is a lucky number 😀
