Hmm that just sounds weird. 1030ish???? Do you live in Alaska or something? Totally not possible where I live lol. Just sounds like she is being maybe a bit condescending???

My bigger concern is her inability to tell the difference between “your” and “you’re”.  I don’t think she meant to be rude…  She certainly could have made her point a little more tactfully but I think she was just trying to save you from wasting money.

I always shy away from vendors who tell me what I do and don’t need instead of answering my question directly.  I’d look for someone else.  I’d also get to your venue, stat, so you can see exactly what you need.

@DanielleZara: Def. possible. If you are on the far western edge of a time zone you will have light until quite late during the summer.

I don’t think her e-mail is rude, but maybe on the unprofessional side. What I’m thinking is that it uplighting might be a lot of work for her to do or maybe an inconvenience, so she doesn’t want to do it, but is trying to give you reasons not to do it. I would take what she has to say into consideration, and maybe you want to visit the venue to see if that’s what you really want and or/need? But in the end you’re the client and you’re the one paying for it, so it’s up to you to call the shots.

@Moose1209:

I was totally going to post that same thing but figured it was too “snarky.”  Damn rainbow brigade is getting to me!

@lezlers: HAHA… I don’t think posting facts falls into the snarky category.  But sometimes you just never know around here : )

I think she is just being defensive because she probably doesnt provide that service and didnt want to just say “no I dont provide uplighting” If you really want uplighting it doesnt matter what month of the year the wedding is in you should go ahead and get uplighting. Ignore this weird and rude vendor

Take my advice and forget this dj. She definitely does not know what she is talking about in regards to uplighting. Obviously she cannot provide the service and trying to discourage you. There are companies that just provide lighting.What state do you live in. If in Atlanta i have a fantastic guy for lighting and he is very reasonable..

@DanielleZara: I was thinking that too… where does it say light until 10:30 unless you’re way up in Alaska.. maybe Canada?

@gulbraa44:

I live on the West Coast.  It doesn’t stay light until 10:30 in the summer.  DJ is trippin. Abort, abort!

I just checked with the U.S. Naval Observatory.  The latest the sun sets in Seattle in July is 9:11, making it dark well before 10:30.

Why yes, I am quite bored today…
