600 square feet isn’t that big of a difference.  If you intend on having a big family go for the bigger one.  If you know how to decorate properly you can make either spot work

If you plan to have a family, 2800 sq feet is not, in any way, too big!  Trust me. 🙂

I’d like about 3500 sq feet!

The difference in square feet is negligible.  Go for the bigger one!  You’re never going to be sorry that you have MORE space than you need.

Our house is 2800 sf and for the two of us, it’s too big.  But we also intend on having 2 or 3 children and growing into it.  However, if we had a choice, I’d still go smaller.  I just dont think anyone truely NEEDS the space that we have these days.  Smaller = less to maintain and the big thing – less to heat and cool.  To me, it would depend on the price difference of the two, and what kind of heating/cooling system it has.

Regardless of square footage, the people living inside it are what make a house into a home!

mandanjoe:  I’d go bigger.  Kids take up a lot of space.

mandanjoe:  Me either, but parents have 3500, including a full finsihed basement.  What I wouldn’t give for a basement, but, alas, I chose school district over square footage!

It looks like a regular, medium-sized home to me.

mandanjoe:  sounds like a deal for just 10k more.  I’d probably just go for it, resale value would probably be better too.

2800 Sq feet really isnt all that big…Its definately roomy though! And very homey 🙂 I grew up in 4000+ sq foot homes growing up and when you have siblings its awesome to have space and room to spread out. If you plan on having kids I’d definately go with the 2800 sq foot home.. Very homey! 🙂
