I think they would be perfect together. I think pearls are timeless and would be the perfect addition to your gown. If I decide to wear a necklace, I will be wearing pearls. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with pearls.
I personally love the look of pearls...they're elegant, vintage and gorgeous! (i wore pearls)
the color might be a concern (have you been able to try them on together?) but I would go for it if it's your style!
I love the way pearls look on a wedding gown! As for color, I don't think it's a major concern, but try them on together to get a more affirmative answer!
That's a very pretty dress & really nice necklace, the spacing in the pearls seems to match the center of the flowers on your dress. At least, from what I could tell in the photos. I would think they matched, but is there a way for you to post a pic of you wearing them together?
My dress is a little more modern, and I'm wearing a double row of pearls with a brooch connecting. I wanted to wear my late grandmothers pearls, but they are too long to wear alone, so I got a second shorter strand and I'm connecting them with a brooch. Seems old-fashioned, but I've tried it on with the dress and it looks elegant... something like this:

Sorry I don't have a pic of the necklace and dress together. I was dumb and totally forgot to bring the necklace to my first fitting. :(
@Ella1978, that is an ingenious idea! How did you feel about the color matching to your dress? Do you think there's leeway with the shade of white?
I don't think it does match. The dress you're wearing is white and the necklace is ivory. The necklace should be white also. Unfortunetly I think the pearl necklace is gorgeous! There are sooo many different kinds of pearl necklaces that look so similar to the ivory one that you can get in white though. I looove pearls and diamond necklaces together I just think they look fancy and so classy. Actually the ivory necklace you posted looks almost exactly like the one I wore to a friends wedding two years ago. Good luck!
i think they will go together great! the accents on the necklace are a nice compliment to the accents on the flowers on the dress!
Have to go with the majority here - I think pearls are elegant and timeless to and will be wearing mine on my wedding day (as my 'something old' - they belonged to my grandmother who sadly passed away).
I wore pearls and liked it, I would just look at the shades, like does the shade of the pearls go with the shade of the dress.
@hugstiem - My dress is a light ivory, and my grandmothers pearls are a more ivory "creamier" color. I actually found a string of fake pearls at Kohls that were almost a dead match on color. They are slightly darker, but unless you are directly next to them, you can't tell. I then had an old crystal brooch that I had never worn, that looks beautiful with the two. This allows me to wear a crystal bracelet and earrings (since I'm not really a pearl person).
Next time I'm at my mom's (where I'm stashing everything I'm wearing) I'll try to take a picture.
Panda in England - my grandmother is no longer with us either. In fact she passed away in 1982! The pearls were almost auctioned off in an estate sale when my grandfather died several years later. My mom paid quite a bit to buy them back. So it's sort of important to my dad (they were HIS mother's) and my mom (who is letting me "borrow" them) to wear them.. so I had to find a way to make them work!
I love pearls! I don't think the colors clash, I think pearls add a very classic & elegant touch!
I think the ivory and white would clash, I would see if you can get it made with white pearls instead. If it were something obvious like a black or red necklace with a white dress it would be understood that it wouldn't match but because the colors are so close it might appear that you were trying to have them match and that it didn't work out. I love the style of the necklace though! Or even something like this might work for you.
i think they'll be lovely together :) i'm wearing my mom's (real) pearls double wrapped around my wrist as a bracelet, pearls are classic. go for it!

I bought this glass pearl necklace to wear with my dress but my mom says pearls are too old-fashioned and the look is too heavy for my short/skinny frame. She keeps suggesting really delicate-looking chains and pendants.
I don't know, I kinda like the idea of having a bigger necklace, especially since I don't have boobs, so there won't be cleavage to "accessorize" the look.
I am however a little unsure about the color since the shade of white doesn't exactly match. The dress is diamond white and the necklace is closer to ivory. Is this a big deal?
What do you guys think? Do they go together? Any suggestions for a better match?
