I had a ring I fell inlove with was priced at $1495 w/ a 6.5mm center moissanite w/ a diamond halo and a half eternity 1.45mm diamond band aprox .29cts. I requested for a quote of the exact same ring but with the the center stone increased to 7mm and was quoted for $1650.
I then asked for this exact same ring at 7mm but with a thicker band at 1.7mm (only .25 thicker) she then came back with a quote of $2950. Stating the diamond would be almost double the size and would need to increase the halo diamonda also that seemed like a big jump to me. What are your thoughts?

Andreajmillan: That seems off. If you love that ring, I suggest you send it to Moissaniteco and ask them for a quote if they custom made it for you, or, find a similar style on their website.
I also suggest trying an Etsy store that works with moissanite, such as SAMnSUE. They will use moissanite as center stones, but their accent stones are real diamonds, so they may be able to make the ring you love for less.
Where did you find this ring? I can help you better if I knew it was a brick and mortar store, or somewhere online. 🙂

It’s from Rosadosbox Catalina. I’ve seen it in person and liked it but wanted to increase the band just a bit without altering they style or settings and thought 1.7mm would be good but that was a big jump.
here is one I found semi similar to the specs I was looking for, it has a thicker band at 1.8mm but still under $2000

I have the Catalina and will also purchased my wedding bands from them. I do admit they are a little more expensive but its superior craftsmanship. You can get it made in china from an Etsy shop but it wont be like made in Chicago, trust me.
I would ask for the break down of the price 🙂

Ljubav: do you have any hand pics? That your willing to share? Did you get the 6.5mm or 7.5mm? Do you feel that the band is too thin at 1.45??

That does sound like a big jump in price but I am not a jeweler, maybe you could have the whole thing done in moissanite and the price would be more resonable.

Also, does anyone know why the Catalina and the pernella (1st link vs 2nd link) diamonds look different, the pernella seems more glittery and less metal? Does anyone know how this is accomplished or what this is called?

Andreajmillan: Comparing the photos side by side, I say it’s just a difference in lighting. The first link — Petite Catalina — has brighter light vs the second link — Pernella –. Plus, since the center stones are moissanite, moissanite can be “moody” and does not always photograph well when you want it to. I’m sure both are just as bright and brilliant!
Also, I would check with MoissaniteCo or another shop anyway. SAMnSUE has some of the best craftsmanship I’ve seen and I know many Bees on here are beyond thrilled with MoissaniteCo and Joseph Schubach’s.
Here are a few cushion halo rings from MoissaniteCo that are very similar to the ones you’re looking at:
