I would LOVE that! I think it is a really cute idea. I got jars of jam at a wedding recently (he proposed in a berry field) and i used them real quick!
i have received honey twice as favours. both came in cute jars with a tag that made reference to the day being "sweet." 1 bride also attached a mini wooden honey dipper to the side of the jar and i still use it all the time! (i have honey in my tea) i know that this bride bought a 10 litre keg of honey direct from a beekeeper and it was very inexpensive.
I would love it! People give jam and maple syrup as favors, so I think honey is a good sweet favor.
I work for a caterer and have actually seen someone do this.
It was really great. The couple also had a specialty drink sweetened with honey. Some guests used the honey throughout the night in the drink, in tea, and even on their chicken. J I thought it was really cute.
I think it's great, especially if you use a honey that is local to your area. We're doing jam because my mom wanted to make some but honey was also an option because if we were doing favors, I wanted something local and food related.
Lees4308 had honey favors. Seems really cute to me!
I use a lot of honey so I'd defnitely use it. The only problem would be coming from out of town and not wanting to check luggage on the way home. Our local honey co made beeswax lip balm for us with our names on the labels - we figured they were easier to transport.
I LOVE this idea. I was trying to get my cousin to do this for her favors because her dad raises honeybees. I think a cute saying would be: "So happy you could 'bee' here" lol. I don't eat a lot of honey but I still think it's a fantastic favor idea...something I would actually use.
No one in my immediate family actually likes honey, so it would be wasted on us. I would probably give my jar of honey to someone at the wedding who would appreciate it more. That being said, I don't think it is a tacky favor at all and it is impossible to please everybody. I say go for it!
Really cute! BUT remember that if you have family and friends who are flying honey is considered a liquid so make sure it is 3 oz or less!
Mmmm, orange blossom honey. I think I need to head to the store.....
Not weird at all. It's edible which is what people prefer if you must have them. Favors are not required though and no one will miss them if they are not there.
Absolutely not tacky... .but I sometimes don't really understand that word when it's not used to describe something cheap or offensive.
I'd take it home and use it in my tea. Delish!
my friend was actually just telling me about a wedding that she went to recently that had honey as wedding favors and she said everyone loved it! I say go for it!
No, not tacky at all! People will love that. I myself wanted to do either honey or preserves (when we were planning a fall wedding LOL). I think it is a great idea that your guest will love.
Not at all!!!! My cousin got married in June and this was there favor!! It was so cute!!!

Wow.. i can't get the picture any smaller for some reason!! Sorry!!
I think this is a great idea! I found a photo similar to what someone mentioned above when I searched for some examples of this and I think the wording on the lid is so cute.
"It was sweet of you to bee here!"
Plus it looks like these jars are under 3 oz. :)
Not at all! This is my plan for a favor as long as it is in my budget. It goes with my theme: lavender and honey.
I plan on contacting a local beekeeper to get honey from him. I plan on having little jars of honey with little wooden honey dippers and some sprigs of lavender.
I have been researching online to find the best deals on jars and dippers. I'm on my blackberry right now so don't have the websites saved, but once I get a chance to get back on my laptop in a few days, I will post the links to what I've found so far.
So obviously, I think it is a great idea! Maybe a sticky idea, but definitely not tacky. ;)
Yum, I love honey! And it's something that people will actually use.
Rosh Hashanah (Jewish newyear) is coming up and our temple always gives out honey for a sweet new year. It's just a little thing of it, but I always look forward to it and use it!
thank you everyone for your great comments and suggestions i will definately do the jars of honey with dippers and personalised labels sorry if i offended anyone by suggesting at may be tacky... i have no idea about weddings or wat would be good... was great getting so much feedback!
It does sound tacky, but as long as you make sure the lids are on tight, you shouldn't end up with a sticky situation.
/cheesy grin
Also, I once got a massive jar of honey as a favour. I LOVED it.
my cousin did this. they have bees on their farm, so it was their own honey
they had XXX and XXX meant to bee and the date on the labels
umm..I'd LOVE it! and you could put a nice tag like "Love is sweet" or "Stick by me!" or 'Be my honey!" Haha aww! Love it!
WHAT?! Why would you question that? That is so cute, and so different, definitely DO IT.
yes! my sister and her hubby gave out a jar of honey and a personalized tea bag for their favors...everyone loved them!
