    Hello My Fellow Bees~

So, I was going through the Summer 2011 issue of Martha Stewart Weddings, and there was a section in there about choosing music for your wedding. One of the options for a bridal processional song was "Here Comes the Sun" by the Beatles, and this really caught my attention.

For some reason, it never occurred to me to walk down to anything other than Wagner's "Here Comes the Bride" or Pachelbel's Canon in D, but now that this idea has entered my head, I can't seem to get over it.

Basically, what I wanted was to hear some of your opinions on this matter. I really love the idea of walking down the aisle to the Beatles song "Here Comes the Sun" (here is a youtube video of it with poor audio quality, but you can get the gist of the song for those who do not know exactly what I am referring to~link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6tV11acSRk), but I was wondering if that would be tacky and too non-traditional. I ran it by my FI, and he's okay with it since he knows I'm not the "traditional" type. However, I would really like to know what the general opinion would be on this matter.

Also, to try and keep things somewhat traditional, I was planning on having the rest of the bridal party walk down to classical songs (I was thinking Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21~Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=df-eLzao63I).

I'd appreciate any opinions on this matter. Thanks!

The Beatles and "tacky" should NEVER be used in the same sentence together. :)

To answer your concern though, I think you can do no wrong by putting your own personal touch into your wedding. This will stick out to your guests, and make it personal for you. Obviously it caught your attention for a reason, and I think you should do what you want to do, not what people think you should do or what "tradition" says. I personally love the Beatles, along with gajillions of others, so you and you're guests will surely be pleased!

And, well, I may be a little biased because I ,too, am walking down the aisle to a Beatles song. :)

I'd maybe do an instrumental, but that's just my taste - I think either way would be fine. I sure hope it's not tacky, we have a Beatles cover band for our reception!

My sister got married 2 years ago and all the ceremony music was Beatles.  I can't remember exactly what songs each group walked too, but it was beautiful!  I think the recessional was All you need is Love.   Last year at my wedding we all walked to Beach Boys songs.   My husband and groomsmen walked to Good Vibrations.  My girls walked to California Girls (cause they are!)  and I walked to to God Only Knows.  I say, if you like it, do it!  So not tacky!

    Love Here Comes the Sun!

To offer an alternative to the Beatles version, I walked in to Colbie Callait's cover version - maybe something to think about?

Not tacky at all, IMO. I had a harpist playing 'In My Life'. I've been a Beatles fan for many years. It was the perfect song for us. 'Sun' is beautiful, and you should choose whatever is right for you.

    I LOVE THE BEATLES!

Just saying. I think you should definitely do it. In no way are The Beatles EVER tacky! :)

The first song me and FH ever danced to was 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps', and obviously, my username is from one of their songs too :)

I'm using all Beatles songs for our processional and dances. FI and the bridal party is walking down to Good Day Sunshine, I'm walking to Here comes the Sun, recessional is All You Need Is Love, First dance is Across the Universe, Daddy/Daughter is In My Life and Mother/Son is Love Me Do.

I grew up hearing the Beatles (my mom is a die hard fan) so it only seemed fitting to use their music. Our wedding is black tie, so I'm breaking the seriousness with some fun music. Also, the music will be live (piano and flute), so it will be a little different.

I had "In My Life" (Beatles) playing during our register signing, and I loved it : )

I hope not cuz I did it!!! :)

My bridal party walked down to Here Comes The Sun and I walked down to In My Life and then we recessed to All You Need Is Love! So, no, I do not believe it is tacky at all.  The Beatles are classic and span generations, I say go for it!

I agree with everyone that the Beatles can NEVER be tacky!

Love them and plan on using one of their songs in our ceremony.  Plus my very talented cousin will be playing the guitar and Beatles songs sound great as instrumentals.

If it makes you feel better I am walking in to Tesla's Love Song!!

    @caseylynn19: I wholeheartedly concur!

Eehkay, I think choosing "Hear Comes the Sun" for your processional would be lovely. All the music I'm using for my ceremony are Beatles songs, so I definitely say go for it.

Wow~thanks everyone for those wonderful responses! I feel really excited about this now. I wasn't expecting there to be so many positive responses to this, but now that I see this, I am definitely going to do it!

I love the Beatles and I think they are classic, but I have never been to a wedding where they did something like this so I wasn't sure. I think I've just been to too many conservative weddings though, which isn't surprising since most of them were held in churches and were followed by traditional korean ceremonies.

Also, thanks for sharing what you did/are going to do at your wedding. I'm starting to get some more ideas :)

I am walking to "Here Comes the Sun" as well! I am going back and forth between the original version, an acoustic guitar version without the lyrics, and the Vitamin String Quartet version.

I voted yes, I love untraditional processional songs! Plus I love the beatles! I walked down the aisle to "somewhere over the rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. My sister walked down to the same song and my mom used to always sing it, so it has some meaning to it.

I have a couple friends that got married in August, she walked down to an instrumental version of Here Comes the Sun. It was really beautiful! I'm walking down the aisle from the theme song from The Princess Bride... lol. So I'm not exactly traditional either :)

@caseylynn19:  I second this vote.  The Beatles are timeless and classic and can do no harm as far as I am concerned!

I am in the process of trying to narrow down WHICH Beatles song our procession should be to.  We'll see...

And if it makes you feel better I plan to walk in to Tesla's Love Song.  That could def be called tacky but I love it! haha

@galloway111:  Oh my gosh - The Princess Bride  - how wonderful.  I did't think of that - I'm going to go through some of my favorite movies now to find an instrumental to be played.  Thanks
