Kind of a weird question, and more so directed towards 2nd, 3rd, etc mom’s.
I am 18 weeks along, and I’ve “popped”, but I am still wearing one pair of pre-pregnancy pants that I will be retiring tonight as I have to keep them unbuttoned most of the day. So, of course because they are snug they suck in my belly a bit.
There is another gal I work with (we will call her Amy) that is pregnant with her 3rd child. Amy is a tall, bigger girl, and the only reason I add that is because I don’t know if that will have any bearing on my question. She is about 12-13 weeks along at this point. She is a nurse.
I was talking to her, and one of our co-workers says, “I didn’t know you were pregnant” to me. Amy talks about her pregnancy all time to her coworkers, so I don’t know if he was jealous that focus was off her or if she was actually making sense, but Amy (very snarikily I might add) was like, “There is a BIG difference between someone who is pregnant with their first and someone like me who is pregnant with their third. She doesn’t even LOOK pregnant, so that is why you didn’t notice, but I DO. Being it is my 3rd child my body just KNOWS what to do already.”
So, there is my question. Because it is her 3rd child, does her body automatically know what to do (automatically show astonomically bigger) because she is on her 3rd child? I kind of thought ALL women’s bodies knew what to do when it comes to pregnancy…
It was just the kind of cocky way she said it that kind of rubbed me the wrong way. One, she is a bigger girl so honestly I can’t tell she is pregnant to begin with, especially not at 12 weeks. Second, her baby is super small, the size of a lime at best. Most of what she is “showing” with is more than likely bloat at this point I assume. The only reason anyone knows she is pregnant is becuase she talks about it constantly, every little ache and pain.
I know I am reading to much into the “my body knows what to do” comment and taking it to heart (partly because I feel horrible again today), so you don’t have to flame me for that and tell me I’m being ridiculous, but I am wondering, since she is a nurse, does she have it right? Would her body just know better what to do than mine because she is on her 3rd, and I am on my 1st?
